What really grinds my gears...

TRIED to keep this short and it could go a lot longer.

Forgive me for repeating any other posts about these issues but I must vent this out somewhere. (This is generally during provi's that these things REALLY grind my gears, but let's be fair it always grinds them to some extent.)

  1. First and foremost, excuses for why a person is losing/dying excessively. We've heard them all and they get old really fast.

"I have 2500 ping, I can't do anything." This bothers me because lets get real here, you cannot get a chat to go through at even 1000+ ping much less some crazy number they decide to come up with. Honestly even when lagging completely out, I rarely see my ping break 500. Okay sure, sometimes people lag and they really can't do anything about it, but it's usually pretty obvious they are lagging. In my own opinion, I would say 8/10 people that claim they are lagging when losing lane and fights are not lagging a bit.

"I haven't gotten any ganks, this jungler is garbage!." Okay, there's a possibility that you could have won the lane had you gotten ganks. The fact is though, you shouldn't need the jungler to gank your lane to not lose your lane completely. Period, you should be saying to yourself, what am I doing wrong to keep dying? If you are getting ganked or camped by the enemy jungler, then play passive, hug your turret if you have to. Do what you have to do as this is a team game and it's not all about you getting fed, more times than not it's about you not feeding. BUT let's say for a second it is your junglers fault, you still shouldn't blame him because again you will miss the point of what you yourself are doing wrong. He needs practice, you cannot really get good practice as a jungler in bot games.

"Nobody is listening/I engage and everybody runs!"

This one is easy, clearly you are not engaging at a good time to fight. If you are engaging at a good time to fight and your team is not following up, you are not making it clear enough beforehand that you are engaging. 5/10 times you aren't using an engage champion in the first place, which would be why there's no follow up. Furthermore, people that "run" are usually the more experienced players that understand your comp does not allow for standing and fighting. I'll move on.

(In ranked) "This is my first time using this champion."

Obviously you should not be using a champion for the first time in a ranked match, ever. To me though, this is clearly just an excuse given in times of woe as this person is playing god awfully. I mean, who would really play a champ for the first time on ranked and why?

There's a lot more but to me these are the main excuses, and what grinds my gears the most about it is why the excuses are given. Why not just say nothing at all or just apologize for having a bad game, we all have bad games from time to time. A lot of times nobody even said anything about you feeding , so why do you feel the need to give an excuse? People feel this need because of those bad apples that will harass them for feeding. So instead of just staying quiet and trying to do better, they throw out an excuse so they don't get called a noob or feeder. EVEN IF YOU ARE DYING OR LOSING LANE DUE TO TEAMMATES, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THEM. FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU COULD HAVE DONE BETTER, AND HOPEFULLY THEY WILL DO THE SAME. This is getting lengthy, I sincerely apologize and thank you for reaching this point in my post. 2. Quitters/Not Trying/Whining

(5-10 minutes into the match) "I'm done, AFK." "FF at 20" "IDC I'm just gonna feed until 20."

Have these people never heard of a comeback, or do they just play to only win dramatically? Is the win not much more satisfying when you know the enemy thought they had it in the bag before 20 and were sure your team would FF at 20 and didn't? I mean seriously, these same people wonder why their match history is so red. How can you ever make a comeback or get promoted when you give up so early? I can understand when defeat is imminent and obvious by 20 but that's why you can surrender. But why surrender if you're losing that bad anyway, it will be over soon, and you need practice playing while behind. You say it's a waste of time, I say it's practice. So stop whining, take the loss as a learning experience, and focus on why you're losing not solely that you're losing.

  1. Toxicity (Note: This should say 3. , but it's showing 1.. When I try to edit it says 3., isn't that odd?)

Please, when you are winning, be happy and don't gloat. All you are doing is causing negativity and making it very apparent you don't win often. Be humble in victory, act like you've been here before. In addition, remember that when you are losing, you hate when you get the all chats putting you down as if you can't see you are losing. Clearly you are winning and they are losing, they don't need to be reminded of this.

More importantly, if you are losing because you feel a person or people are feeding on your team, do not put them down. There's a difference in giving criticism, and kicking a summoner while he's down. Even giving criticism should not happen unless you are willing to give a helpful and friendly suggestion along with your comment. I agree this person needs to know that they are building wrong for their champ or current situation, but offer the reason why and what they can do differently next time. It grinds my gears when I see this, and really grinds my gears when I stick up for the summoner getting put down and in turn get the wrath.

One last thing, if you decide to queue ranked, please summoner's try your hardest to win. No matter what, try your hardest. This is the point of having normals and ranked matches instead of just ranked matches.

These are just a few things that bother me and again I'm really sorry it's such a long rant but I needed to vent it out. I started playing mid season 5, and am in the silver range, so I'm not some high elo player passing my opinion as if I'm god. I'm just putting it out there and I wonder if anyone agrees with some or all of my points. Thanks for reading if you made it to the end. :)

There's so few people in league that understand the engage part of this and why, if you keep doing it, your intentionally feeding.

When you play Yasou, Malphite/wukong, sejuani, annie, mf... you can engage all day and annihilate team fights. There's no chance anyones beating that combo with their ult up...

When you're playing diana, yi, cait, blitz, fiora... you HAVE TO WAIT until blitz grabs something or they use something fiora can parry. Standing and fighting vs. tanks and dps with cc and aoe will get this comp BLOWN THE FACK UP.

I'm thinking you're right and a lot of it is inexperience or maybe maturity. It's why I'd rather play with people who are my own mastery level than my own MMR. I have 280 Mastery. Playing with people with more than 100 is great. When they have less than 40... it's like playing with a beginner bot that gets abused all game.
