How to fix AFK unfairness!

Since most of the ideas to balance 4v5 games are ruined by "abuse" I have an idea. If a player is disconnected from the game for a certain period of time the enemy team has to collectively vote to sit out a player. It's the least abusive way I can think of. Feel free to list your abuses or suggestions.

That's probably one of the worst ideas I've seen on how to deal with AFKs

I think that LP should be based on how you do in the game in your role so that if you have an AFK but do well, you only lose 4 LP instead of 20 or 18.

That would be a very difficult thing to do. Suppose someone AFK's and the other team votes for the worst player or an alleged feederTahmKench to sit out? How to deal with disconnections and reconnections?

Suggestion: The league could randomly pick that player to sit out. Or pick the most equal player.

This isnt very fair to say the least though an AFK is not fair too. So I do see a balance.

It is good to start a conversation about this topic.

Erm....how about no?

Why should someone else have to leave the game? Is it that persons fault that the enemy team has an AFK? No.

That's pretty bad since the player will be left out. League can simply implement DotA2's system and making a separate MMR for people who AFK or DC.

Going in the right direction but this idea won't work because of abuse potential. Imagine if enemy team is composed of 4-men premade and a solo queue. You know the rest.

Another abuse example would be situation where your team's behind, so you get one guy to close game client and reconnect right after, which isn't going to cost too much but it forces enemy team to vote once on someone to afk. Needless to say that's going to cause some conflict between them and might tilt their team.

I personally do like your approach though, the end idea of making the team numbers even is appreciated, just that as things stand it probably isn't going to work as ideal as it can be.

While that may (or may not) be "fair" in terms of in-game team balance, that means that one player gets forced to not play League of Legends. Sometimes that would mean that a player has to sit at their computer but be unable to play League like they wanted or do anything else for 40 minutes or more! And that scenario will only get more common the lower elo the game is.

And in ranked, not only will someone get barred from playing League but that person will have to just watch and be unable effect the game their being ranked on.

I wouldn't play the game if it came to that. I'd rather spend my time playing a game I know I can actually play through it's entirety.
