Is when you're actually not too far behind. You're down a bunch of kills, sure, but you still have most of your towers and you lose no important drakes. Your comp wins lategame teamfights. You then see a surrender vote pop up. You're like "wtf? Nah this must be a prank lol" and the vote goes through. It sucks losing lp just because some people on your team don't have the mental fortitude to play a game to the end.

LP actually isn't based on the duration of the matches. It's a mathematical algorithm that bets on which team is going to win via MMR.
