10 game chat ban for defending myself in game - NEVER used ANY ''bad words''.

I am amazed after logging in today to see I have a 10 game chat ban.

The first log I was given was about a pyke player who was talking in caps and telling me to go mid, I was playing Nami support to the bot lane and I said support in the champ select screen but he stayed and griefed bot lane, fed a few times. I asked the bot lane who he/she wants to support and because I had already set up kills and saved him a couple of times, of course, he said he wanted me as his support. so this pyke started feeding and griefing the other guy's attempts to cs, and generally being a dick until he finally ''calmed down''. This guy called me some sort of swear word in chat containing 4 letters, you can only guess what that was, I went as far as calling him dumb and immature, yet I have had a 10 game chat ban from this.

The second log was literally me explaining to a guy who was harassing me for 5 minutes straight over the fact I had ignited with flash instead of flash and heal as I was support, I explained to him that plenty of supports take ignite and I actually got the idea from a guide online from a season 1 veteran challenger player. But I explained to him this, he said I should be reported for trolling because I didn't take heal so I called him dumb. Since when did players think they have the right to control what summoner spells other players take? I told him if I really wanted too I could play jungle as Janna with smite and teleport (if I was immature enough too) but I wouldn't, I was simply saying to him that people can bring any spells they like into the game, there's no rule saying supports have to take heals and flash and been as ignite +flash is what bizzleberry got to challenger with I'd say it's far from a ''trolling'' loadout. I got the loadout on mobafire, as I'm a new player I do like to look at a build guide before playing a new champion.

I really hope the others got a ban too, this game makes me paranoid af, like what is allowed and not? defending my use of igniting over heal in-game chat has led to a 10 game chat ban, even after being called a '' **** '' and I think we all know what that word is...

This is a game I feel I can't win at, every single player is going to get some sort of ban on this game because the trolls and the people being dicks always win. I hope the others got bans too, been as they were the only ones to use foul language towards another player. But probably not right.

Just get rid of the in-game chat option, It's only ever used for trolling, flaming or saying ''gg'' after you win. No one is nice in it, I get a 10 game chat ban and will lose rewards for my honour level 2 (or something like that, not sure what entirely) for defending my use of and my right to choose what spell I take into a game with me, Pathetic.

I also won't be spending any more money on this game simply because I'm so paranoid now that I'll wake up one day with a permaban over something just as ridiculous as this.

Where do I find the logs? also, the logs don't show what the other person said, so you can't see how toxic and abusive they were. But I'll happily post if you tell me where I can see them please and if it's allowed.

When you log in it should show the reform card The reform card should have a small button that says "copy text", press that and paste them here

And it literally doesn't matter what others said. It doesn't matter if they were more toxic than you. You're only shows your logs because that's what you're getting punished for, what others said doesn't matter. If someone is being toxic to you, mute and report them. Answering back will just get you punished too

The support will always lose, soon as the ADC who won the game says ''report the support because I don't like how he spoke up for himself'' I get reported, reviewed, and punished. While he carries on unpunished because he'll never even be reviewed.

Did you report the adc? If yes, then they'll be reviewed and punished if they broke the rules If you didn't break the rules, you wouldn't have gotten punished

I understand now that I also broke the rules, I should not have responded. My flaw is that I'm too quick to defend myself or others rather than let things go by. I was being told in the selection screen I shouldn't take ignite and that I should take heal. I said no and thought that was that, but as soon as we all spawned in the first message in the chat was him saying I should not take ignite. I explained why Ignite is a valid choice for support but he continued to the point of harassment on why I should not be running Ignite as a summoner spell. That was when I called him dumb, told him to grow up, and get a life. He was also telling me to just ''go AFK pls'' in which I again called him dumb and that he was trying to ruin everyone else's game.

Postgame chat him and Annie was calling me terrible, so I said the same thing back, been as Annie was in no position to call me bad when she was 0-6-0 and he was only slightly better. So I called them terrible, told the one player to never play Annie again, both of them said a censored 4 letter word to me and left.

I agree i broke the rules now I am looking at it with a clearer, non-tilted mindset, but I also hope they were punished far worse as their behaviour was much worse and their language was disgusting.

I'm afraid of that now tbh, I'm never going to type anything in chat ever again, and I'm never going to go anywhere near ranked been as people are toxic enough in regular games, especially to supports or junglers. I reached honour level 2 playing support, so I am clearly a helpful and nice person to play with. Besides the few games I have argued with people, I've been really nice and helpful to people and defended clearly newer players from toxic teammates flaming them.

I think my problem is I talk too much and speak out to people instead of just letting things go by, I could have avoided certain arguments by choosing not to defend other players. But I have been bullied myself in my school days and I feel obligated to speak up when someone is being abused in chat by another player.

Ahh well.

Use /mute all after getting into a game. Leave post-lobby asap after a bad game. Simple as that, if you're never the aggressor then this works phenomenally well.

As for why were you punished? Hmm. Because Riot only looks at your logs. They don't care who started it. As soon as they see anything negative, it will be punished. Now, take note OP that just one game won't do this. But if you get multiple reports in different games then once they rack up, you get reviewed. And anything, forget toxicity. Even arguing can get you punished there. So the short and easy solution is to not talk. But if you're new and want to keep chat open then that's upto you. Anyone says anything you don't like? Just mute-report. That's all you can do.

As long as your the ADC and you fulfil your role and win the game, you can say what you like to people in this game with no fear of being reported. It should not take X amount of reports before someone is reviewed, they should be reviewed after X amounts of flags from their disgusting language to other players.

Do you have an idea of what happens with my honour? I consider myself a decent support player and reached honour level 2 (and it's hard gaining honour as a support in my experience). Now my honour is locked and reset to level 1 so if you have any idea on when it could be unlocked that would be helpful, or is it locked indefinitely?

Never ask for reports. That's another dicey thing. Although it was said by some Rioter that requests asking for legitimate reports won't get you punished, its better to not ask for any whatsoever. I've seen multiple players get punished because they were asking for reports. So to be on the safe side, don't. Because one report or multiple reports do the same thing.

OP, I didn't explain myself clearly in my last post. Please allow me to do so now. Anytime you report someone, the "IFS" (Instant Feedback System) scans them. However, the "IFS" system doesn't get the context of what's said. Meaning that if they were arguing or just being negative, it may not understand that. However, reports on someone who consistently does this will eventually result in a manual review. And that's where I meant - you as in general, anyone may be punished if found guilty of being Negative or even arguing in a manual review. Not to mention cussing/flaming or trolling etc. The point was that they can't get away with it for long.

Its not okay for the ADC to flame you. It doesn't matter if you won or he fulfilled whatever role or heck, even carried the game 1v9. Its not alright for him to cuss at you or anyone else. If you reported him after your match then he will be scanned as well. If you did not or forgot to, I suggest that you do it here.

You have to play out your games, OP. Play out games to rack up enough honor and then it will be unlocked. First, get your 10-CR games out of the way. You'll get a notification when you've unlocked your Honor level. Honestly, take my advice. Just don't talk! You will get back to Honor 2, 3 and even 5, eventually as long as you play enough games. Either don't talk or if you want to talk, be positive. Mute-Report people who bother you! Don't say anything to them. Try honoring others after your games as well. Exchanging honors always helps speed things up!

Thanks for such a detailed response, it was a very helpful read. I will work towards it then, I got a bit worried as I saw some posts from a couple of years ago from people with 10 game chat bans not getting honour back unlocked for over a year and apparently getting reported once is picked up by the system and resets your progress towards unlocking it again. I really hope not, as people will report you for simply having a bad game, and as a support main it's only possible to do well if the guy I'm supporting is ''supportable'', if you get my drift.

But your right, I'm not going to talk anymore, I am genuinely mostly positive anyway I am just too quick to defend myself and others in-game when someone else is toxic. I sent a ticket to riot explaining that if they looked at my other games they'd see, apart from the 2 chat logs I was restricted for, I am on the whole a nice teammate. A person responded and said that after seeing my standard game behaviour they would love to unlock it, but they just can't do so right away.

Anyway, thanks again for your very helpful responses!

also, sry for these quick replies, but i feel bad for you cuz the same thing happened to my other account last year, i got permabanned for defending myself against a toxic duo... so i know sometimes you will lose your temper, but the system doesnt care if you are the victim or the guilty, it just cares about if you're toxic or not, pretty bad system if i might add >>

I felt like it was unfair when I first had it and i was pretty annoyed. But I understand that I didn't have to say anything back, I can only hope they also got the punishment they deserved. My problem is I talk too much, I'm too argumentative Lol If I feel I'm in the right over something I feel like I have to make sure the other person knows. From now on I'm going to avoid any chat unless the players are being friendly.

Hmm, that sounds weird. So maybe anyone who receives any length of chat restriction on their account are eventually allowed it unlocked again, but are limited to reaching level 2 only? If so, seems extremely harsh.

Honor progress is tied to ones overall behavior. Consistently good or neutral behavior will slowly cause it to increase, while behavior that's poor but not poor enough to warrant a punishment will slow progression. It's definitely possible to get past Honor 2, but again it's all dependent on ones own behavior.

Are you able to also clarify the amount of honour I would need to receive in order for it to be unlocked again? It would be helpful to know how far I am away/towards unlocking it again. I was proud of my honour as everyone tends to honour the ADC, I have to hit 20+ assists as a support in a game to get honoured most of the time and so it wasn't easy reaching level 2. I've been honoured around 4 - 5 times since my chat restriction ban was lifted so I'm not sure if that's decent or nowhere near the amount I need to receive before it being unlocked again. Some people are saying they've had the same 10-day restriction as me but still have their honour locked over a year later, yet some are saying it took them 2 weeks, some only days, I'm kind of confused.

I can't do that as:

I'm only a volunteer forum moderator and don't work for Riot. And
Each player is different. Some may take 2 weeks while others may take 2 months. It's all dependent on your own behavior.

Also there's no such thing as a 10 or 25 day chat restriction as they only last for a specific number of games, not days.

Just a word of advice; never take information from people who have been punished as truth. You say yourself it sounds weird and it would be extremely harsh. Thats because he is feeding you his version of what he thinks, not actual information on how the system works. Like, hes completely leaving out the fact that any valid reports against you that are confirmed to be negative, but not enough to warrant a punishment, will completely halt your honor progress. Also, he said he got restricted a year ago, and then played for more than a year and hes still at honor 2 lol. Honors reset every season. Youll find a lot of ignorant, or bitter players here. If what they say sounds odd, its probably because its false.

You're very welcome, OP. I can feel that you're a bright and honest person! I can only advice you to not be provoked by people saying foolish things to you like it happened this time around. Remember, when you play the game and someone is being toxic. Don't stop yourself from muting them because you're expecting to get important pings and are possibly afraid missing them from said player. If someone's been toxic once, chances are that they will be again during the match. And you're better off muting them right away. Just because you're new, please don't take it upon yourself to wait it out and see if they say something useful.

I'm glad that my advice helped and I hope that you will have a better experience in your future games! /mute all is the best if you're never the aggressor. Out of sight, out of mind. You don't have to get baited into defending yourself or people when you don't see them type. Usually, pings are enough to play the game but I also urge you to continue reading guides! Those are great for quick improvement. However, your teammates in your Elo may not be able to keep up if you're improving too quickly. Your MMR won't immediately shoot up and some might drag your hind legs. Just be patient, don't lose your cool then! As support, you can only do so much. A duo Q would be best once you get to that point.
