Dear Riot Games Please fix your punishment and ranking system.
Dear riot,
I am writing this as a player of over 3 years. You need to fix your player punishment and ranking systems.
I will address Punishment first. I just dodged a ranked game in lobby, I did so because the "support" pre-picked Ezreal support, as the adc I was concerned and said "pls don't pick Ez support" to which he responded "get off my dick" I immediately dodged. I was only willing to dodge because the previous game a player singled me out in lobby, confusing me for someone he had played with earlier in the day, and called me a "feeder" and proceeded to be toxic toward me all game and in post game chat as well, after that experience I did not have the patience to deal with a toxic Ezreal "support". I have been very patient with this kind of player for a very long time, believing inside that they will get the punishment they deserve if I report them, but therein lies the problem. You see, I run into a player like that in almost every game, often two per game, if that kind of behavior was being punished as it should than there would be far fewer players who behaved that way.
It is time for Moderators among the player base with the power to enforce immediate bans.
These moderators could be given the power to enforce immediate bans ranging from 20min-until case review. I would suggest perhaps players with positive player banners as starting point for who these mods would be, at least until more fleshed out criteria could be fleshed out. The Mods need to make up about 5% of the player base to get adequate game coverage and improve player behavior/weed out players who don't deserve to have an account.
The second thing that needs addressed is the ranking system.
While I understand the idea that winning games means you deserve to rank up, having that as the criteria for gaining/losing LP is out dated as the game has developed into a team game that is harder/not able to be solo carried. What I would propose is that a system much like the point system in Fantasy LCS be used to award LP on a personal performance basis.
With this system as I would propose, a player would not be able to lose LP in a win or gain LP in a loss. What would be possible, however, is that a player on a losing team who goes 12/1/10 and takes 3 towers in a loss would not lose as many or any LP, and the player who goes 0/16/2 on a winning team would not gain any LP. This would allow players to rank up based on their skill, instead of based on the luck of matchmaking.
Riot, please, for the sake of your loyal players, rework these systems so that player experience can be positive and we can continue to enjoy the game in time to come.
