Perma-muting would be better for the community than perma-bans.

I say this as someone who has never even been chat restricted but just watched some Tyler1 and has played a lot with chronically toxic friends (like 5 permabans status). Most league players like to stick on their main if they can. They have their hard earned champions, runes, levels, rank, etc. There are definitely incentives built into the game that try to stop you from getting multiple accounts - These same factors motivate you to not get permanently banned. For some people, this really isn't enough. By the time they are permanently banned, this should already be obvious. They've already been chat restricted a bunch of times and got plenty of warnings yet they flame on. So they get permanently banned. Gone forever. Problem solved, right? Nope. They just make a new account and bring their toxicity into the new player experience. After grinding back to 30 they hop back into ranked and then get banned shortly after (they sometimes don't even last that long). So what - they just played a shitload of games leveling just to get banned in 30 games of ranked? After one or two iterations of this they just start buying level 30 accounts and spam those till they get banned. Tyler1 has been permanently banned like 19 times now? And then he is in champion select 5 minutes later? Honestly why are you still trying to ban him? And yeah, I get it. He's fucking toxic. He's probably that one in a million toxic asshole that just keeps coming back. He'd get along well with my buddy that gets his purchased accounts permad for verbal abuse in 2 weeks. I'm not here to say "he doesn't deserve to be banned." He does. But who cares? I don't really. I don't care how salty he gets and how much he wants to bitch about his team. I just want him to shut the fuck up in chat. My buddy had a 300+ game chat restriction. I played a lot of those with him and he said like 3 toxic things each game and was just silenced. It was fine. He deserved to be banned and he lost his account that had every champ but that didn't teach him anything. In fact, it was probably more of a liberating feeling than anything. He could go buy an account for $15 and then just flame his fingers off on that till it got banned then buy another one. When he was 300-game silent lee sin on his main he never bought other accounts - he only does that when its the only way to play ranked. He played through his 300 games and they were great because he couldn't type. Now that he is always getting perma'd he is never chat restricted and the community doesn't get the same benefit that they would get if he was finally just permanently muted and just had to shut the fuck up and play the fucking game. tl;dr: If you don't want toxic assholes flaming all game then stop banning them and just disable their chat until December 31, 2583. EDIT: It sounds like a lot of people have requested to be permamuted BEFORE getting banned and had that request declined - I understand wanting people to reform but someone should be able to admit its not working. It's like insisting that someone can totally go to the bar with you and just not drink - some people can some people just can't.
