I hate being the 'bad guy' because I don't trash on Riot.

I understand Criticism. I also understand frustration.

What I don't understand is people who make a post that is 20% Criticism and 80% flame and hate. And to top it all off why is it whenever I come in and make a simple comment that isn't 100% shitting on the company that created my favorite game, I'm immediately an idiot who doesn't understand anything. The bandwagon for playing this game every single day while also shitting on the developers who created it is way too large.

And again for those of you who are ready to comment about how much I don't understand. I'm fully aware of some of the bad choices and holes Riot has dug themselves, Just because I have hope that they can fix their mistakes and continue to make the game as good as it can be, shouldn't make me the bad guy.

Quick Edit - Thanks for all the support and constructive criticism to my post, I never thought this many people would agree with me and I expected my post to get lost in 'new'. It's getting a little challenging to reply to every comment but I have read them all.

I hate getting downvote bombed for refusing to agree that everyone who is not 12/0 by 10 is a troll and obviously throwing on purpose.

Most of these people have never seen a single troll, int, scripter, ect, yet they think they are in every game.

MagicFlyingLlama (NA) I hate getting downvote bombed for refusing to agree that everyone who is not 12/0 by 10 is a troll and obviously throwing on purpose.

I have never agreed more.

Look, I get it. I understand the complaints and while I may not personally share some of them, I can see where people are coming from and why they want the game changed back to what it was.

**But people need to actually back up their claims with evidence and real arguments. **I'm so sick of people saying "wow why doesn't Riot listen to us on the Gameplay boards?" meanwhile a post saying something outrageous like "Wow Akali dashed from one spawn to another then she one shot me while I had 500 magic resist on Kassadin, wtf Riot fire your balance team." gets 300+ upvotes.

I get that the Boards are made up of a ton of different people, but the amount of contradictory, hyperbole-laced BS just frustrates me to no end. Sometimes I get so angry at all these posts and the people who disagree with you won't even bother to debate, they'll just say "Wow lol we must not be playing the same game then" or something ignorant.

I love the Boards, but my god...

Thanks for letting me get a chance to blow off some steam.

I get what you're saying. I was called mentally impaired and got mass downvoted for saying I actually enjoy the game [sg-miss-fortune]

I'm the bad guy for hating reworks. People will jump on something that doesn't conform to their opinion, some gamers are like that.

I just want to say as someone who always believed in Riot (all my "negative" responds toward Riot on boards are mostly just memeing), it is okay to get downvoted if you believe what you are doing is right.

I've seen new players who just started the game spreading hate toward Riot. They are influenced by this freaking toxic community, and we can't really blame them. The most obvious way to prove Riot is trying is read patch notes. Ever since Akali's rework, her damage and w are changing bit by bit, although most of the changes won't affect her greatly, they are balancing her with just the right amount.

I also want to remind all of you out there who hate Riot (or support Riot, and I hope you keep your hope in them) about the -3ad to graves and -5ms to irelia. To most of us, it is probably like a joke. Graves has good jungle clear and insane late game damage, okay, -3ad. Irelia has pratically endless mobility, so the -5ms hit. Those numbers, however, are extremly well-calculated ones. If any of us who don't main those champions are given the ability to nerf them, half of us will probably gut them, as I would have done, but Riot went the other direction. It took them many hours to test out the numbers, but they did it because they believe it was necessary, and it is.

If you guys think Riot is trash, then let me just ask a few questions.

  1. How many games have a patch every 2 week?
  2. How many games allow players to test things out (PBE)and possibiliy influence the outcome of certain things?
  3. How many games have the toxic community like League? and before you blame Riot, think of all the shit posts floating around.
  4. And at last, how many games have been going on for almost 10 years and is still the most-played game on Earth? and what caused that (screw addiction, it isn't what I mean)?

Forums are very toxic, and a lot of people here probably don't even play the game atm just hang out at the forums.

league has gone to shit

Seymoar1/1/2019, 12:01:35 PM5 votes

What do you mean?!

Everyone knows it's completely unacceptable and illegal to not make perfect decisions that satisfy every single person who ever touched the game.

Dorans Pants1/1/2019, 1:39:47 AM4 votes

If you are talking to a wall you might as well yell at it to vent of some frustration.

The funny thing is. The more substantial your feedback is the less useful it becomes because no developer would let his mind changed by a random player no matter how insightful his line of reasoning may be. More abstract feedback can be much easier examined and repurposed in a way that the developer feels like it´s still his idea and can be more confident in making adjustments.

And I don´t even believe that fora are the right place for this sort of feedback, so it makes perfect sense to me that most discussions devolve into circlejerks.

If you think Riot is going to make the game as good as it can be you are wrong. They will make the game only as good as it would make them money. They don't care about balance or you as a player. If you think otherwise you are dilusional.

Arammus1/1/2019, 4:08:38 AM4 votes

well, for the last 3 years the people saying riot is going the wrong way they are fucking up got downvoted to hell. by now the game reached such a bad state that "we" became more and more thus all the upvotes.

guess we swapped roles lul

ModJango Mage1/1/2019, 9:27:42 AM3 votes

Imo ppl who do this are the reason rioters are not always keen on commenting here on the boards under gameplay.

Kovaxz1/1/2019, 7:17:46 AM3 votes

It's why I only read the boards and don't post. Also I don't add salt to my meals now.

Janakin1/1/2019, 10:35:46 AM3 votes

Tomoe Gozen1/1/2019, 1:36:10 PM3 votes

The truth of the matter is that the "haters" don't really think that anyone else, who isn't saying bad things about Riot and League, is correct but themselves. Which means that you and me, who still play the game daily, must be Riot sympathizers or sheep who eat up anything they give us while they themselves are representing "truth".

Little do these people know that they only represent THEIR "truth" and that their opinion is not a sure indication of anything. Having an opinion on both sides isn't wrong, it's either subjective or objectively sensitive depending on the way you look at the problem.

And let's just remember that the Boards are mostly in this state because people (first and foremost) use to for complaints more than for discussing problems, game balance or anything in general. And it's way easier to get upvotes and have your opinion on the top of the front page if you're being condescending, rude and generally "anti-Riot", claiming how the game must be dying because your interest in it has dwindled over the years - and blame it all on having to move on from the long gone S1.

The Dreamwalker1/1/2019, 11:54:48 PM3 votes

You are not alone. There are others who support Riot, yet most of us just hide in the shadows. :)

fire2631/1/2019, 2:51:26 PM2 votes

Posts like these and seeing how it has 51 upvotes restores my faith in the league community. I'm perfectly fine with voicing opinions, I do that myself, but then it's people who go and blame it on Riot or someone at Riot that kinda angers me as those people want nothing but their mains to be strong, which in a game this diverse can't happen 24/7. Even yesterday I found a post in gameplay about how all of these broken champions is the fault of CertainlyT and that he should be fired. I can agree with his designs being a little annoying but wanting someone to be fired for trying to introduce new mechanics into the game (That don't always work out) is no reason to fire someone. I always try and upvote posts that have evidence (not bullshit ones like I got oneshot by one zed q with 5000 health and 300 armor) to backup their post, because having evidence means you're at least making a constructive post and not saying Riot sucks dick and that they should balance around your preferences.

Either way, appreciate you making a post like this. I've been thinking of making a post like this but figured it would just get downvoted into oblivion so didn't bother.

Much of this behaviour comes from the gigantic discrepancy in power between gamers and Riot (or the people behind Riot).

Technically Riot holds all the cards while the average gamer has to content themselves with whatever cards Riot decides to share. This works well of you like the cards Riot gives you but can work abysmally if you don't agree with Riot.

This creates a sentiment where gamers desperately try to get rid of the discrepancy in power. Herding together is one way to do that.

Now keep this in mind and imagine that a herd of angry squirrels is beseeching a Galio sized giant, then you come along and instead of helping the squirrels you decide to hop on the giant's shoulders, making him look even bigger.

The powerbalance which was already bad just got worse. This gets amplified the feeling that Riot really doesn't need any more support on these things. Instead they need a reminder that angry squirrels can hurt even a giant.

Excuse me for using these bad examples and don't mistake this as some judgement of my own. I just think this explains a bit what you mentioned in your thread.

You're allowed to have your own opinion, but I think this should be a wake-up call to Riot, rather than a call to fix criticism of RIot. The fact that there are so many players unhappy with recent changes proves that there's something going on. Of course, there will always be unhappy players in games, but I think the criticism on the boards is usually valid, and abundant. This shows that the state of the game is most likely unhealthy.

Bouncemaster Zac1/1/2019, 6:50:24 AM2 votes

Hate and flame should be directed at Tencent, not Riot.

Kantan1/2/2019, 3:27:02 AM2 votes

Where the frustration stems from is a lot of people giving actual critcism, but Riot either taking an entire season to deal with it, or not at all.

Thing’s like the “-5 MS” nerf and stuff are what really pissed off people, because Riot doing that let’s the players know they hear them, but pulls them abig ‘ol middle finger, and thats where all the frustration, flaming, and impatience come from.

And it’s really hard to be patient, when you wish you could keep playing, but you, more or less, lose the enjoyment you have when you play due to either getting one shot’d or the game is a stomp for you.

It’s a lose-lose situation that stems from damage being too high, and a lot of us voice it, but continue to either be ignored or taken another season and a half to fix the issue.
