Are afkers in ARAM a common thing or am I just unlucky?

aram has an mmr just like every other mode. Play a bit more and you'lll just have people who don't know how important it is to get to the near brush ASAp, instead of ppl who leave the ENTIRE game.

From my experience, in every game mode, AFKers decrease as MMR increases. Possibly a consequence of better players being more likely to be serious about a game mode and, in turn, being less likely to afk.

Within equivalent MMR ranges though, it might be more common to have AFKers in alternate maps, particularly ARAM, compared to SR. For whatever reason, it's generally more "acceptable" to treat SR more seriously than the other modes.

It seems like it's a bit more common on ARAM, i had a game once where a Karma and Volibear just never connected to the game, 3v5 the entire time, almost won too, got all the way to the enemy nexus before getting taken out by a Vi ult and the enemy team ending the game, ended up being one of the best matches I ever played. I think the reason you have so many AFK in ARAM is that if people are prone to disconnects for whatever reason they might be more likely to queue up for ARAM than a summoners rift game, since it doesn't last as long and isn't seen as a competitive thing anyway.

some idiots think its fine to base for several minutes to get another item too

when I played aram, it was fairly constant to have afk's. Then people get all pissy and afk because someone doesn't connect. Is a snowball affect. Just play aram with whatever you are given for a team. Don't go quietly into the night.

I never play Aram much, that why my mmr in it is so low

Dude. I played as lucian in aram and my whole team was afk. Imagine how i can survive.

Is there some sort of mechanism that groups people who are chronically afk for the first 5 minutes into the same games? Or low priority queue for ARAM? I see almost every game someone is afk for the first 5 minutes and it's annoying as hell. Like they can go grab their chocolate milk and doritos before queueing up or something.

I wouldn't say I get it consistently, BUT I can say I easily get more afk's in ARAM than any other mode. Second is TT (in ranked TT somehow).
