I feel like chat restrictions need to be replaced with small bans

I really don't feel like restricting somebody's chat is enough. I don't know how many would agree with me, but I don't find that many people take chat restrictions too seriously. I think that the first (10 game) chat restriction and maybe even the second (25 game) one should be replaced with a two and seven day ban.

That or the first chat restriction can be replaced with the second one while the second punishment would be a 2-7 day ban.

harsher punishment = more likely to reform IMO

Chat restricts actually had a 75% success rate on the old system. That is, the people that got one did not receive an additional punishment.

Besides, increasing the severity of the punishment wouldn't do anything when only 5% of the community gets punished.

I learned from the one and only chat restriction I received, just saying.. (I got the warning boxes but continued with my bad ways thinking nothing would happen at all, and when I got chat restricted I was like oh snap!)

If they use ban games approach then the person will just not play for a bit or use another account so it's not as bad as a chat-restriction. If restricted then they may learn something.

Riot just needs to pull the plug quicker and let everyone know that is how it will work, THEN the jerks who ruin games for everyone will learn or be gone.

I'm not really disagreeing with you so much as stating what I see people complain the most about. ;)

I hate chat restrictions because I feel like they punish everyone on the person's team for the duration of the chat restriction. I would definitely rather have the 10 and 25 game chat restrictions replaced with 1-3 and 7 day bans for that reason.

I don't really think it would change much. I'm pretty sure the biggest factor in punishments leading to reform is that their behavior is being pointed out. The chat restrictions are more like warnings but with an actual minor punishment attached it lets people know that it is not to be ignored.

Depends on the offense, light toxicity lighter punishment, players telling others to kill themselves longer punishment.
