Was this 'kill stealing'?

Long story short, was playing some Ashe in a normal Summoner's Rift game, hardly ever play ADC usually support instead. Jungle Yi was 4/9, I was 7/6 due to not realising their tryndamere had been fed and got killed twice before I learnt my lesson that Garen was not gonna come help. I caught their Twitch at Baron roaming from top to mid to join in a team fight and blew all my spells on him including my ult. Yi dropped his ult from blue buff (without taking the buff he had half finished with his q) on blue side (we were blue). At this point I have Twitch down low, and bear in mind Yi only started running towards us when he saw that Twitch was now lower than 1/4 health. His animation starts for his AA and I manage to proc Thunderlords on my own AA and get the kill. Yi complains, basically this:

"stop ksing ashe your why im not fed yet you keep ksing all my kills"

He did not gank bot lane once the whole laning phase.

I know that Yi can get really strong if he gets fed, but I thought that as an ADC a solo kill that I had put all my effort into and almost died in the 1v1 duel, I was allowed to take it? Besides, shouldn't he have already gotten fed from ganks? Or is it 'kill stealing' not let Yi take the kill. I just played a couple of games as a support where I didn't comprehend Morgana's nuke and accidently stole a kill trying to q stun someone as they ran away, but does this count as kill stealing?

Its not really a thing. Typically as a support you'll want your kills to go to your ADC, but people have got away when I have been too scared to take it. Let them have it the opponent is definitely dead otherwise kill secured.

The only other times it could be a problem is if you waste a high cooldown ultimate on someone that is already dead, that's just bad play.

and of course the pentasteal.

I was playing on my smurf, I was level 6 or something in game and someone starts complaining I KSed him. so I trolled him by acting like an actual level 6.

"KS" "Whats KS?" "Kill steal" "oh so I can't try to kill anyone you damage then?" "no just don't take my kills" "so how much damage do you have to do before its your kill and I can't touch it?" "shut up"

Seriously, the only time someone should complain about kill stealing is when you're at a quadra and Ahri takes the penta

Why are you taking what he said so seriously?

... Why are you so serious?

KS'ing really shouldn't be a thing. Everyone should know how to last hit lol. All that cs training isn't just for cs'ing. It's also to get kills. Mistakes in letting kills go could hurt, just trust if your support (or any team mate) really wants that kill, they will last hit it from you. ADC's should never let a kill go (if it's there, take that shit.) If they cry about it, tell them "l2lasthit"

The only KS I acknowledge being a killsteal as opposed to a kill secure, is when people waste long cds just to get the last hit on somebody, or when people risk not getting the kill by waiting for the lasthit.

But then it's not really the fact that they're stealing a kill that annoys me, it's the fact that they're playing stupidly just for a bit of extra gold and KDA bragging rights. In fact, this bugs me even if they are the main contributor to that kill.

Funnily enough... the kind of player that does that shit is also most of the time the kind of player that complains about "killstealing".

I'd say you're in the clear and that that Yi was just being entitled.

Kill Stealing is such a joke to me. I've been supports like Taric or Kench and set up near perfect opponents for my ADC to love tap and kill and they chicken out and run off, so I take the kill. A dead opponent is better than a live opponent, and I'd rather deny my enemy their creep score and gold rather than be a fluffer for my ADC who doesn't have the stones to finish what I set up. And of course, juxtapose that to fights where the ADC will decide to all in when I'm trying to slow down and hinder 3 charging enemies so they can flee...

Dude, you're fine. Chill. He was either kidding, or just looking for an excuse. It seemed in that scenario, HE was trying to ks.

As for some things, where you aren't entirely sure whether it was a ks, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS apologize just in case. Nothing big, just like, 'my bad sorry for ks'. Then, if they're reasonable, they'll either answer with 'lol you're fine' or something like that, or 'yeah...'. Then you're fine.

If you DO ks, and you know, don't say, 'huh. looks like I got it'. I can 100% say that pisses me off so much, and a lot of other people. Apologizeing before they say '...' or 'dude' or something like that always defuses the situation. Just don't say 'oops' or 'huh looks like I got it'. Typically this will defuse the situation pretty quickly. Just be a nice person.

Sure everyone wants a penta but if you dont earn it its not a penta steal if people kill some one when you happen to get quadra they shouldnt wait around for you to come and get another kill when they put into getting that one low or zoneing them out

Kill Steal does not exist -- Play the gank correctly, people will die and you will get assist money. They changed the way boutines work so assults would grant team gold, ontop of changing how assists work functionally.

Anyone crying about KS need to get over it, because it's not about the scoreboard.

I've seen people give kills to a desired teammate and the team mate doesn't have the damage output (or speed) to finish it and the enemy runs off with a slither of health.

I've seen people both back off from a kill and the enemy walks off, and both team mates were like "I wanted you to have the kill!!"

I've seen people give kills only to die from a certain burst from the enemy before the enemy goes down.

So nowadays, My general rule of thumb is:

  1. If I want to give you a kill, I'll give you like .. 0.5 seconds to decide, before they escape
  2. I won't be dying for you to get the kill
