Should Riot remove in game chat and all chat from LOL

I just had a thought I would like to share with the community.

In the past I've had many frustrations in game dealing with ragers, and trolls who use in game chat to spam hate speech, and belittle other people in the match. It happens in all levels of play even in bot matches.

So I've had to ask myself why we even have the option to chat in game in the first place?

the majority of players in this game do not use chat features to issue commands and orders because it takes too long to explain strategy or tactics over text. Most professional and casual teams just simply use an external chat program to organize themselves on the battlefield. I find that pings are far more effective at showing intent in fast paced situations. I hardly find a reason to chat at all other than to make banter while we wait for the minions to start moving.

So what is the point? By removing chat from in game situations we force otherwise angry and disillusioned players to hold their tongue in bad situations therefore eliminating the need for bans for racism, verbal abuse, and negative attitude. Spamming this sort of inflammatory talk is like throwing gasoline on a fire. people with hurt feelings play worse everyone knows that.

by containing this sort of talk to end game chat and beginning game chat ends the need for players to issue reports because for the duration of the 50 minute game they don't have to waste energy or time listening or arguing or even bothering to mute other players. because there is no point to typing anything in league of legends at all.

hell even giving advice is pointless because nobody on your team is going to listen to you anyway.

So what does everyone else think?

Yes.

Let us punish everyone just to stop the flamers.

Makes sense to me.

Absolutely not. It's your choice as a player to run w/o comms, but sometimes you need to say something that can't be said via pings. In a team-based games, there has to be some kind of in-depth communication system, and as bad or trolly as it can be it's a necessary evil.

No, it's too important of a tool for team communication.

Deal with the outlier players that use the tool to harass someone by muting and reporting those players.

they added a mute button, did you know that?

They should not, however if they are going to keep their reasoning for allowing the mute button to exist in a communication heavy environment they should allow for muting chat to be a default setting.

Maybe not the entire chat, but definitely All chat. I have no reason what so ever to communicate with the enemy team during a match, the only reason anyone does it is to taunt or troll.
