Punished for Lag

Dear Riot,

I just had a game with a lagtastic connection. I lagged out at level 10, and couldn't reconnect until the game was over.

When I tried to start another game, I was informed "Abandoning a match or being AFK results in a negative experience for your teammates, and is a punishable offense in League of Legends. You've been placed in a lower priority queue."

Great. What about the negative experience for the person who has to put up with shit-tastic internet connection and being punished for being too poor to afford anything better than DSL? What about the negative experience for the person who has to put up with lagging out every time they face an enemy?

What about the negative experience for the person who sees "Attempting to Reconnect" too fucking often?

Perhaps you should look into how many times a player disconnects and reconnects?

I just wanted to get this off my chest during the long-as-fuck wait that I have to put up with for the next few games.

As if the 15-minute wait for a Draft game wasn't bad enough, I have to wait another 10 minutes to even be in the queue.

Sincerely, Maniacal Coyote

P.S. Somebody is going to ask why I got a 10 minute wait when penalty 1 is only 5 minutes. The previous LeaverBuster was for games where I had to stop playing because my landlord wanted to talk for a while, and I didn't know she wanted to talk until after I had started the game.

As unfair as it is that you are being hindered, it is more unfair to the 9 OTHER people in the game because you are playing despite knowing you have bad internet.

It's just like a person coming in to work at a restaurant despite being sick. You either call in sick and don't get paid, or you get other people sick. Is it unfair that you don't get to work and be paid? Yes. However, you're acknowledging that you're sick and still going in to work, getting others sick; it's not fair to them, either. :/
