Young man pissy about his League of Legends account getting temporarily banned.

So I'm your average, run of the mill banned league player that thinks the justification in his ban is a bit lacking. The standard: never been banned before, never had any infractions or warnings on the account , typically non-aggressive talker (I sadly get provoked easily). So while I do honestly think that the repercussions of my actions were a bit much, I still want to ask the best question I can moving forward: What am I supposed to learn from this? Was it mean? Sure, I got provoked and was supposed to just let it go but I didn't and reacted in a crude manner. Is it that I just got unlucky with a new report-oriented bot? I've seen so much worse in an average game, but I guess a system that look for specific words/phrases can only work in a linear direction. Why wasn't it a chat ban? My negative actions are limited only by a bad mouth, I can't even try to play badly or in a way not to win since it actively hurts my state of mind. Even a simple warning to tell me to knock it off (I know they exist from another smurf that doesn't use chat) or just make my honor level hit 0 (I have a small pride over things like that and it alone would crush me pretty good) The only other thing I could think of at this point is that a ban like this just gives me an incentive to just insult differently rather than not insulting at all. I don't know, this whole thing is really just me venting a bit. Will it make any difference in the future? I don't know that either, I feel that im pretty unpredictable even to myself... So... any words of advice going forward?

Why wasn't it a chat ban?

Because homophobia/racism/encouraging suicide are above and beyond simple flaming. That kinda stuff will get you instabanned.

Don't type homophobic garbage into chat going forward.

And on that note, be careful. If you get another punishment of any kind after a 14 day ban, you will lose your account. If you find it hard to avoid venting, get a stress ball, pound the desk, disable your enter key, anything other than unloading into the chat box.

See this is the answer i was scared of showing up, not for me but the general "thematic" of flaming. Why are certain types of flaming "better" than others? Why is it that I could potentially absolutely shit on one guy's day for the entire duration of a match and get a chat restriction in comparison to literally saying 2 words and getting a ban? 2 Words that are originally not negative but are only negative when used that way? Like it honestly feels that the only direction this discussion heads is "Flame differently". The heck is up is that? I can agree with the encouragement of suicide being high due to it having a direct cause and effect, but everything else is harassment. I just want a better explanation that doesn't end with the result of "flame differently to avoid punishment" outside of the obvious: be a nice person. Why isn't it just a 14 day ban for all of it?

Either way you get punished. The direction the conversation goes is for you not to talk shit. Very simple. Someone flames you, mute and report. You're not required to be nice, pleasant or friendly. You are just supposed to avoid being an asshole. Homophobia, Racism, Death Threats, and advising self harm are all instant 14 day bans. You don't understand why? Because calling someone a F* or N* or telling them to kill themselves is far worse than calling them stupid. It's riot's game, riot's rule. "When in Rome do as the Romans do".

Because just berating your team is a lesser level of jerkitude than calling them racial/homophobic slurs or advocating that they take their own life. Those are the only three things that will get you an instaban.

Everything else is handled differently, because statistically, most people start behaving themselves after a 10 day chat ban.
