Maybe its a highly contested/overpowered champion where you aren't first pick, maybe picking it with the projected teamcomp is a very bad idea, maybe they see your winrate on it, or maybe they just don't want that champion on their team. There can be alot of reasons.

The only reason that i would ban a person on my team’s champ is if they are going to do some kind of extreme troll pick in ranked. For example soraka jungle or vlad adc.
because they're toxic and trollers you shouldn't have the option to ban teammates pick in the first place, so the blame actually goes to riot on this one, imho
