in game chat is counter productive

so many games people spend more time raging in chat rather then playing the game. Riot has Pings....that is all you need to communicate. If there was no ingame chat league would be much more pleasant to play. Seriously whats the point of it? Riot wouldn't have to spend money on chat review when trolls harass others as well.

I hardly ever have problems like that.

pings arnt enough. Communication is key in this game. how are u going to express yourself effectively with a ping.

It's a tool, and it's all in how you use it. Used wisely, it can help keep an ally from tilting and can create a more upbeat environment for your entire team. Removing it seems like a rather extreme solution to a problem.

A few comments from the jungler such as "care bot" PING "Enemy jungler there!" Has helped me both as a laner and as the jungler. The game would be so hard to read sometimes without chat. It is needed and a most valuable tool.

you can warn with pings, say your on the way etc...what more do you have to talk about? so you 4 have never seen teammates furiously typing the entire game?

I agree. Since season 1, people have said nonstop you don't need to type a single word to communicate. The entire game can be communicated and you can pull off elaborate combos with teammates with just pings.

i like bantering with everyone in the game, not "trash-talking" BANTERING, as i only play aram and normals so it makes the game more pleasant if convos or "nice shot!" "so close!" type of messages are going on. removing in game chat turns this from a game that id enjoy to a chore where you can either only play to win or play to troll

I agree with OP on this. Sure, in game chat can be used to coordinate teamwork. However actual usage statistics of in game chat usage probably look something like this.

34% - berating teammates for mistakes 23% - taunting (opponents or teammates) . . . 6% - congratulating good plays by teammates 1% - coordinating team play

If it's misused so much moar often than it's used in a positive way, is it really worth the trouble of having it.

Chat is only counter-productive when used improperly.

When used as intended, it is an extremely helpful feature for communication and coordination.
