Before i started playing league I would always come across people saying that this is the most toxic community out there.

I created my account last august and everything has been great so far, 95% of the games im in have chill people in it. Not complaining at all

(i run into really toxic ppl every once in a while but thats nothing compared to other games ive been a part of... cough cough overwa...)

Yeah, there's a lot of negativity bias and confirmation bias in how people perceive the League community. Does it have problems, perhaps more than we'd like? Absolutely. But there are a ton of great people here, and if you're an outgoing, positive, friendly person yourself you run into a LOT more of them.

It's nice to hear someone else say this. I've been playing since early on in season 3, and I can probably count on both hands the number of times I've ever encountered an extremely toxic individual in game over all those years. Most of my matches have great people in them. I used to play mainly normals; now it's mostly ranked, with some intermediate bots tossed in for when I want to test a new rune page or try out a new champ. And I honestly meet so many people that are just awesome.

I just finished a bot match with a J4 and a Ryze on my team, and as the match began, we were trying to figure out why the enemy Swain bot was taunting J4. Our final solution was because J4 had somehow had a fling with Swain's mother. Everybody laughed, and we continued on with the match. We're winning our own lanes, me dying a bit more than I would like as I was playing tank Leona into Swain, Zyra, Mundo, Yi, and Kayle. But for each death or misplay, there would be a joke, or some sort of silly comment. At one point, Ryze and I turret dove the Zyra, and he killed her, and we both walked out of the turret range. And then he immediately channeled his ult for us. To move us about two inches to the side. He said he was going to port me to safety. What could I do but LOL and "my hero <3"

Obviously in bots, it's not nearly as serious as in normals, or in ranked. But even in ranked, the purpose of the game is to have fun. Yes, we want to get better at it, but we play it because we find it fun in the first place. And even in ranked matches, as long as people know you are trying your best, they are more likely to forgive small mistakes, if you you continue to demonstrate that you are trying.

I really hope that you hook up with a good crew of people to play with. It can definitely make the game more fun if you have someone to laugh and/or cry about what is going on together with. Best of luck in the future, and i hope you continue to find just chill, pleasant people.

I've played League on and off since season 2, and I've had less toxic games in League than for the single year I played Overwatch. I don't know what's up with that game, but people get ridiculously salty instantly.

All the toxic people went to Overwatch.

I find that I don't run into nasty people very often, either. I play almost exclusively ranked summoner's rift. Maybe not recently; been stressed IRL. But over the years probably 80% of my games are ranked SR.

hey wanna create an euq acc and duoq with me? you seem to be a lucky charm lol

rework trundle2/7/2018, 5:16:26 PM2 votes

What sucks is when you meet people irl, they ask you what game do you play. You answer LoL, of course. And then they go on a 5 minutes monologue on how bad, toxic and childish the League community is, how they absolutely despise the game.

You then ask them, did you ever play LoL? "Oh no, a friend told me all of this".

...and then you discover Ranked

Warwick Main2/7/2018, 6:49:06 PM2 votes

You're an ARAM player. Aram is a very fun and chill game mode. Come spend some time on the rift and see how fast your opinion changes.

Lios Ashenblade2/7/2018, 2:52:26 PM2 votes

i think it gets a little worse when you hit ranked, and you get paired with people with varying degrees of "give a shit" about the fact that this is ranked.

Me, if I wanna just dick around and have fun, I do arams, or norms, something where I can corki jungle and everyone is like "Um...alright then, hope it works"

Fegone2/7/2018, 2:59:34 PM2 votes

Just wait until you stop playing Bot games and play your first 5v5 game. Let's talk again after that... ;)

Totally Not Jinx2/8/2018, 2:30:58 PM2 votes

A lot of people are mentioning Ranked, which is inherently true. Many people playing ranked, especially in low-elo tend to be very aggressive about their climbs, and many of them will take it out on you, especially if you make mistakes as you're learning, which we all have to do at some point.

Just stick with the good attitude, and keep positive, and eventually you'll start winning some of the toxic ones over. And the ones you don't, just remember that they're ruining their own game, it has nothing to do with you.

Today I was just camped mid by the other JG and I just tried to play safe and yet my jungle calls me out for feeding and trolling. Happens every 2 games where someone uses verbal abuse. your numbers are off mate.

Glad you're having an enjoyable time with other players. Like you I also run into toxic players every now and then but they're few and far between. This goes for not just LoL but for other games as well such as Overwatch and the Kingsisle Entertainment games. Of course it helps that I mostly play co-op vs. ai which is considered to have the most positive in-game community according to Riot (though that info may be outdated) but still though. As long as you're having fun and it's not at the expense of others that's all that matters.

Terozu2/10/2018, 4:57:43 AM1 votes

Yeah, I like when people say we're worse than WoW, cause, y'know absolutely as horrid as tellinv people to kill themselves is, its not as bad as one player murdering another.

Hauling Ashe2/7/2018, 5:18:41 PM1 votes

I had the same experience when I started playing a couple years ago. This game has a comparably low level of toxicity considering it is on the internet. Bad people exist and sometimes you have bad days with nothing but trash for teammates, but that's just life. I don't regret playing this game.

0DESTROYERZ02/7/2018, 5:59:13 PM1 votes

I'm glad to hear that you are having a good time with this community. I personally think that this community is extremely toxic, but again that is from my experience. I do see you play a lot of aram games which could influence why me and you have different experiences. I feel aram is much more chill and fun than summoners rift atm, which is probably why we experience different sides of the community. The other day for example i played nunu jungle, and was spam pinged and shit talked by my mid and adc for the entire game. Its never a good feeling when you are flamed, and i feel it can have vastly negative effects on people, such as turning them self into a toxic person. Hopefully you can continue to prove me and other people wrong that this community is somewhat good. My best wishes to you.

It's more that the toxic people you do meet are some of the most unpleasant human beings possible

Sp33d Zer02/7/2018, 9:22:23 PM1 votes

Stay off the boards. It's way more toxic than the in game

Auroramancer2/8/2018, 1:39:50 AM1 votes

You will encounter them on SR and in ranked modes

NOHITDETECTIO2K2/9/2018, 2:38:11 AM1 votes

You don't play ranked often do you

FireToa2/9/2018, 4:25:22 AM1 votes

Ya know there was actually an article made about this like a week or so ago on news website (you can probably find it if you search it up) There really is a large negative bias against the LoL community when in reality the community is only equally toxic as other gaming communities like Dota 2 or even, like you said, Overwatch. A bit of toxicity should be expected though from MOBA games and such due to the very nature of the games itself.
