PSA for all those who are getting punished

Ignore, ignore, ignore. Did I mention ignore. It is a barbaric action to poke something that pokes you back in an online community. Being a better person is not about upholding yourself by retaliating, it is about training yourself to not let malicious attacks get to you. If you expect to counter attack every negative thing that comes your way then, 1.) you will inevitably get some form of punishment and 2.) you will work yourself up for nothing. Anger effects the body in negative ways both physically and emotionally. People will say mean things in order to get a rise out of you. When you acknowledge their nasty comments, you are only feeding them and giving them what they want. There is no winning an argument in league of legends, and there is no point in arguing in the first place. I challenge you to do the following: For a whole week, do not respond negatively to another person. If you have to mute them then so be it. If you can do it for a week, you can continue to do it for the rest of your league career and will make the game more enjoyable for yourself and others in the community. Best of luck and stay positive :)

I chose to ignore two of my teamates flaming me today, and actually positively responded with complete professionalism, but when I queued up for my next game I was chat restricted because the automated system decided the flamers that unjustly reported me deserved even more gratification for it. So while I agree with your sentiment, the system needs reworking if we're going to keep positive players in the community. I've never wanted to quit playing the game more than tonight.. They were so toxic to me all game and then I'm the one that gets punished for nothing...
