serious question to the NA players - is racism a big thing on your servers?

just out of curiosity. on eu its kinda "standard" "lol french" "omg ital" "nazi germany" etc etc.

how is that on the na servers? did someone ever say something like "LOL NEW YORK YOU FUCKER" or something like that to you?

The united states doesn't identify particular nationalities with particular areas of the country, so we don't have that problem as much.

You get a substantial dose of homophobia, and there is a bit of political posing when its close to election times.

Less racism though, its a lot less tolerated, possibly due to our history with slavery.

It's not common, but you do occasionally see people saying racial slurs aimed towards black people, and fairly rarely towards Latinos. What's more common than both of those are homophobic slurs.

when i say coloured i include all races (red, yellow, black, )

I can honestly say that I have only ever seen racism in one of my games and I got the "thanks to your feedback another player has been punished" message the next day when I signed in.

nope, never experienced that before. You have some derogatory terms every so often that usually result in a 14 day/permanent ban, but there's not really discrimination by state.

I don't often see racial slurs but I see homophobic slurs all the time, I can't go one game without a teammate calling somebody on the enemy team "gay" or "%%%got."

It's pretty rare in my experience. Canada and USA are pretty similar, and we dont have really strong cultures that differentiate ppl within the region.

Mordepool4/27/2017, 9:05:26 PM1 votes

It doesn't appear in any of my games unless the offended party brings it into the game

It's not a common thing. Most people don't know what states people are in, and we don't really associate states with nationalities anyway. Our big one is homophobia.

Other than me claiming that the Chinese players who make up about 50% of the NA playerbase past 1AM are all terrible (which in my experience is true), I don't see any racism at all.

I don't typically note toxic players, but I've had one incidence of racism in the past month.

In NA, it's kinda hard to be "racist" towards someone else when you can't see them. Using words like "N*****" and such is common, however you can hardly call it racism since it's not directed at someone. On the off chance you call someone that word with malicious intent and they actually ARE black then have fun getting banned xD

TLDR: Nah fam

I just drop in to say that "nationalism" is different thing from "racism", but okay.

Even though the question was directed at NA players, I in my special bubble answer: On EUNE I don't really pay much attention on things like nationality (or race - how could I tell race anyways?) other than that either people use english or they don't. If they don't, I don't usually attempt to communicate with them more than "Please use english if you wish to tell me something." Thus race/nationality have pretty much nothing to do with us trying to murder each other on the Murder Bridge from my point of view.

I haven't really detected any racism/nationalism problems. Well, it might have to do with me refusing to listen to all-chat and focusing on the match so hard that I often miss what people are talking in team chat too. I am too simple minded to focus on two things at once, sorry. :)

why does it matter?

saigo no akuma 4/28/2017, 3:00:51 PM1 votes

Can I just say those are weak examples. maybe nazi germany is a bad one

GamblerOfLives4/27/2017, 8:26:00 PM1 votes

that's not racism buddy:)..racism involves the colour of the skin. And, in USA, i believe it's something standard, since they have alot of coloured people:). in my country, whenever i see black people, i turn around and say to myself.."damn , that dude it's very black:))"..
