What happened to honor?

Setije·11/19/2016, 6:41:48 PM·59 votes·2,662 views

When honor was released in 2012 it was a good system and many people really stepped up their manners. People actually had banners and this was probably the most polite and fun environment the League community has seen so far. However, as time has passed honor has become unimportant and irrelevant because no one has banners anymore. I think Riot needs to reassess honor so that is something people strive for and are rewarded for.

Would be great if honor system actually did something...

Haven't seen a banner in forever.

I ask that same question, but on a much more general level.

Pretty sure they want to, it's just not a high priority right now since most of their focus has gone into getting the new client done, getting the next ranked season going smoothly, ect.

I think a banner isn't enough for somebody who consistently shows they are honorable. Maybe bonus ip or an ip boost would be a good idea to help make LOL less toxic than it is.

It's in development along with the Tribunal

You need people to constantly honor you. And well, only new players do that. The rest will just report you. So you might have a nice banner around when you start the game, but it fades too fast. And is so reliant on the positive and giving mood/nature of people that only streamers end up with em really.

Yasuo honor left a long time ago.

seriously, the only time I remember that there is something known as honor is when i am reporting somebody

As a holder of a crest of honor since season 3, lack of rewards, thats what happened, whats the reason to be positive instead of just neutral when you get nothing out of it but a barely visible banner? Most people need incentives to actually act positively and in a honorable manner.

Rito took too much interest in punishing people who respond to trolls than the trolls themselves instead of promoting good behavior with things like honors and rewards for good players.

Yeah I haven't seen anyone with a banner for a long time. It also seems harder to remember to honor in this new client, it seems like it was easier to see the honor option in the old client. Maybe a little notification upon completion of 30+ minute games that reminds to honor would be nice- not a big full screen banner, but like a small alert in the corner.

nobody cares because there's no point and nobody uses it anyways. the "reward" was a useless gem ish thing that you didn't even get to keep for all that long and needed an absurd amount of + to get. waste of time in the league of toxin anways

Before I started playing League there was only the option to report... as far as I know. With how reports are now, all options on reporting seem to be guided to negative reports. But wait, at the very bottom you can select "other" and that's where you can choose to say all the good things you want to say about that person with 300 characters or less. Honors are a good contrast to reports, but reports really shouldn't have such a bad report.. Maybe honors should be an option in reports? Now that's a good reason to be REPORTED!!

Yeah it seems like something they've totally abandoned. It would be nice to be able to see your honor value as well.

Teralisan11/19/2016, 9:47:27 PM1 votes

I have a banner still

I also have like 500 teamworks...

but yeah, I don't see many other peoples... I think I saw like one other banner in the past month or so...

tribunal 2.0 (which includes interacting with honors) coming after the new client is passed its beta phase and is up and running smoothly.

I mean i have over 1000 honor on my main

Do i get an award?

SociopathFriend11/20/2016, 6:06:21 AM1 votes

The problem is that you lost the banner really quickly- like stupid-quick. Because I generally received Teamwork once every few games (playing Support) and I still lost my banner because I didn't get enough in whatever period of time it looks for them.

If I, playing Support very often, couldn't keep up with almost guaranteed Teamwork honors; how could anyone else do the same? There's no point in a system where you can't manage to get the reward. And even IF you got it, trying to keep it was effectively impossible. If the banners lasted longer, more people might try. I know I still give honor in the various methods I'm supposed to- but I feel like a minority for sure.

yeah, i had green ribbon since lv9, previous to that was a gold one. took that around lv...4?ish then it changed to green. then blue, then green again.

then one day... I did my placement games (holding green ribbon), first week of ranked (still owned green ribbon!)...

Second week of ranked, Green Ribbon GONE!! asked support what happened...their reply :

"our reply may take longer than usual...", next answer from them was a link to the honor system page.

So if you go ranked and nobody honors ya, you're losing your ribbon. any game mode and no honors...bye bye ribbon.

I was told that each region only has like 100-200 ribbons for each tier (teamwork(green), Friendly(yellow?), Helpful(Blue), good player/honorable opp (red)

but as stated, they're becoming rare as fuck. I've seen one maybe a month ago. but once upon a time, there was a lot of them and it was nice to see them.

WiegrafOfValor11/20/2016, 7:21:46 AM1 votes

There's no honor.. only Rengar

GigaPube11/20/2016, 8:17:20 AM1 votes

but the real question is, how does riot make even more money off of something the community wants. ideas: buying banners, using blue essence to buy banners, saving money by not doing stuff thats free for the community unless it was a noticeable act of positive PR

I have held the Green (Teamwork) banner/honour crest 4 times - ALL before level 30, and last time was back in late 2014.

Since then, this game has been way more focused on premade play, and we're being actively "forced" to play so (premade IP bonuses during events, the Clubs system etc.), yet the tiny detail that premade honours count for almost nothing is rather conveniently overlooked.

It is even stated that honour points are not transferred between servers, on the basis that "you haven't earned that honour status on the server you're moving to". Which for me is the sole reason why I haven't moved to EUW (Draft pick still being available there being another incentive to actually do it), because I know I won't ever see my ~2000 honour points back.

I don't know how others look at it, but a rather large part of when I determine who I want to add or accept as a friend is based on their number of honours. If I see someone being high Diamond, but with a low number of honours, I'm guessing either a recent server transfer or having recently being punished. And I generally hold the latter as more likely.
