Time for a small reminder
I see many players on the boards think that Riot doesn't do their job as a company to keep players happy. Normally it is pertaining to the Tribunal, other times it pertains to bans, reports, etc. It seems people don't know what is going on in the slightest, and use Riot as a scapegoat for their faults. Here are some points I've seen people screw up on and make themselves look like an idiot.
1. Saying that Riot doesn't know what they are doing Title explains itself. I've seen countless posts on how Riot doesn't understand human emotion, it was just a mistake on their part, etc. Let me explain this to you in the nicest way possible: Riot is not at fault. Their automated system has a 1 in 6000 error margin, as stated multiple times, and if you were that lucky person to hit that sweet 1/216000000000 chance (this is assuming 4 reports for 4 tiers of punishment, 1 report per tier, and all hitting the margin of error) that it was the machine's fault all along, you should just give up because that is an astronomical chance. If there are more reports than those 4, and all hit in that margin of error, might as well go to the casino because today is your lucky day! But nonetheless, you can submit your case as a support ticket, and a Support Representative will review your case personally, where the final judgement will be made.
2. Saying that they were banned for no reason, or because someone trolled or flamed them There are 4 punishment tiers: 1. 10 game chat restriction 2. 25 game chat restriction 3. 14 day account ban 4. Permanent account ban If you were banned, without any sort of prior punishment at all, or with no reason, submit a support ticket. Do not post about it on the boards, because if you are wrong, you will make yourself look worse, and ruin any sort of chance to be reinstated. If you were chat-restricted, take that as a warning to never be toxic again, period. If you continue, you will continue to be reported and punished until you are finally banned from League of Legends. Contrary to what your parents tell you, and what you think, you are not perfect or special. You fucked up, you have to deal with it before it gets worse. Don't assume that Riot won't ban you, because they will if necessary. If you are chat-restricted, take it on the chin, and reform. Just go on with your life, and be a good player. I'd suggest reading through the EULA and the Terms of Service that you agree to every patch, to refresh your memory. If you were banned, but you say that someone in the games in question was also toxic, keep this in mind: No one cares. It was your reaction that counted against you, not their actions. If you reported them, they will get theirs in the end, but you've gotten yours already. It is like being in trouble for fighting in the lunchroom, but you say "They started it, they were talking shit about my family, and when I got mad they hit me." You won't be let off for that, you still knocked that dude out hard, and your actions are the ones being punished, along with theirs. I've seen this analogy made before, here is something to better help you visualize this scenario:
Say it takes 10 reports to be banned (not the actual value).
There is a
in the game, and he has been reported 5 times out of 10 to be banned.
You are playing
, and you have 9 reports out of 10.
The Zed is trolling around, your team is not doing so great, and you are getting aggravated by it. He BM's you, and you get mad. You fire back an insult or five to him and to every single member of the team. The Zed decides to not return the favor, or maybe he does by emoting near you or flaming you post-game. Regardless of what happens, you are reported, and so is he.
You have now reached 10/10 reports to be banned, and you are banned. Zed has now reached 6/10 reports to be banned, and he is fine to play another game.
He has been noted as a troublemaker too, but you have been a bigger problem, and a ban is warranted for you. Maybe he gets banned in the future, maybe not, who knows how he decides to act? Maybe he turns a new leaf, quits League, or goes down in flames. The point is that he is at fault too, but so are you.
3. Blaming reports on a single game You receive a reform card when you are punished showing the chat-logs of the last 3 games you are at fault in. Read through all of the messages you sent, in context or not, and decide whether it looks like BM or flaming. If you said yes, deal with the punishment. If you said no, submit a support ticket. You also receive an email when you are banned (maybe chat-restriction too, never been punished) showing the chat-logs of more than the last 3, and also the reasoning. Use these tools they give you to better yourself and to see where you fucked up in. If there is an issue with the chat-logs, and you must post it on the boards, for your own sake, post the full chat-logs for all the games you are at fault in. One game is not enough to discredit a ban.
