Peculiar game: Who would you report here if any?

So, Riven and Sona were carrying our Ranked Game. Then Sona misplayed one situation, which caused Riven to vent: Riven called Sona "useless" or something the like. Because of this, Sona decided to not participate in the game anymore: She didn't feed outright, but she didn't do a single point of damage from then on either.

Sona - in her own words - wanted to teach Riven that no teammate is ever truly "useless" - as long as they aren't trolling. She turned out to be right: Without Sona, we lost that game.

Riven - seeing the almost certain win slowly escaping her grasp - started to flame harder: She called Sona "r%%%%%ed", "degenerate", "jew", "jehovahs witness" and wished Sona's mother to die, amongst others. In the end however, she came around and agreed to talk this out after the game -- sadly too late, we had been way outscaled by that point.

Now the thing is: In that talk in the post-game-lobby, Riven kinda agreed to not flame a teammate that is not trolling nor feeding in future games. Probably more out of fear that she might lose a game in this manner again than anything else - but still.

I'm kinda conflicted here: Who did what wrong? Who is to be reported for what? What's you guys' opinion on this?

It’s great the Riven agreed to talk it out at the end in the post-game lobby.

That being said however, some of the things the Riven said were absolutely uncalled for. As JoOo stated there is no place in this game for hate speech or lashing out at your teammates.

Sona is equally at fault for basically giving up, which falls under the griefing/giving up under the ingame report feature. Justifiable or not you cannot abandon a game because someone was mean to you. It sucks that the Sona has to deal with the toxic Riven but Sona’s absence from the game after the exchange ended up costing their team the game, or at least heavily contributed to their loss.

Both Riven and Sona should have been reported. I’m not saying Riven’s offense was worse than Sona’s, though their words portray them as as short-sighted and undisciplined, and I am not saying Sona’s was worse than Riven’s, though her actions did directly attribute to their team losing.

In the end they both broke the rules and both deserve to be reported. It may not seem fair or balanced but, as in life, sometimes it isn’t fair or balanced.

You report both of them. Riven flamed, and demonstrated the textbook reason for why flaming in this game is inappropriate. Sona trolled, which is against the rules no matter the circumstances. Both are immature assholes that have no place in this game.

Toxicity is a cycle you know. The verbal toxics will cause disruptive gameplay behavior, which will lead to more verbal toxicity.

It is exactly what you described.

Some people may bring their disruptive gameplay from the previous game and take it out on the new team mates, that leads to verbal toxicity and in turn more disruptive gameplay.

Report Sona for sure. Trolling is a serious problem, toxicity isn't. Just click mute. No way to win with a troll. Riven just seems to actually give a shit about ranked, something we need more of.

both, riven can recover from a ban if she truly will stop flaming.

sona because her (teaching) harmed 3 more players, so she can learn to not make her revenge on one idiot harm 3 innocents.

You report Riven for Verbal Abuse, negative attitude, and possibly hate speech for her flame. You report Sona for Intentional feeding and negative attitude for her trolling and giving up.

Both players behavior in this case is completely unacceptable and will likely result in both getting slapped with suspensions.

You report the Riven for being a typical raging Riven player.

Sona isn't cool for trolling, but you technically are allowed to troll in this game. You aren't required to follow your team and do what they want. If she decided to split push the rest of the game, its clear what she is doing and isn't cool, but she IS ALLOWED to do that. She didn't run it down mid like you said which woulda been report worthy, but sounded like she just avoided teamfights from then on, which while blows, she is allowed to do.

People need to remember the difference of what ACTUALLY is wrong and what they want to be wrong. If I am, idk name a champ. I'll pick Kayn since I play him a lot. If I decide for some reason I don't wanna gank and just wanna farm nonstop, I am more than entitled to do such. There is no rule saying I have to play how you want, contary to how much people love to throw the "Bad jungler" Or "Blame the jungler" crap around.

You report them if you feel like you were harassed or if you feel like they destroyed your league experience.

I believe that reports are a personal thing and we shouldn't feel like "I have to report this guy/gal because they did this even though it didn't lead to me not enjoying the game"

If they ruined your experience you report them. If they didn't you move on and let the other 2 people in the team decide for themselves too.
