Chat restricted for the dumbest reasons ive ever seen.

Was recently chat restricted. I looked at the logs, which i will post, and riot's "Reason for punishment" is a game where I had an udyr who was doing nothing but flaming his team and feeding, and me and him argued in chat until I muted him because I was bored and waiting for 20 mins so we could ff, since he fed a kha and there was no way we were coming back from that. Not to mention it was during the april fools thing, so I dont even see how I got enough reports for it to be noticed, considering none of the enemy team reported anyone, obviously. Other game was one of my "friends" talking shit to me and me talking shit to him. We were having a one on one conversation that did not involve either one of us being toxic to anyone aside from eachother, so I dont see how that's a valid reason to chat restrict me lol. Last one was a recent one, I had a darius flaming me and accusing me of flaming our jg, when all I said was "I havent seen yi in my lane yet", as you will see in the chat logs. Yes, I did flame the darius eventually after I got tired of watching him flame me for no reason at all, and yes I should have muted him and not done anything other than that. But, I dont see how the other two games can be counted as "Bad behavior"? The udyr that apparently ended up reporting me was reported by everyone on my team, and I didnt get a notification of him receiving any punishment, so why am I receiving punishment for that when he was literally the only person who reported me, and he only reported me because he was being toxic in any way he could lol. I just fail to understand the reason behind the chat restriction, and I wouldnt care about the chat restriction, but I'm pretty sure that counts towards my overall record for bad behavior, which can eventually lead to a ban, and I lose my chances to get loot boxes and keys, etc. I dont see how this is justifiable in this situation. Please reconsider. Thanks!

i mean i get that, but it doesnt affect a majority of the playerbase. only a few players like you and me and bonobo even scour the behavior boards looking in on discussions.

i dont want to call it wasted effort because it's not, but it's not the most efficient way to reach the community.

there has to be a better way.

I don't believe that this is the type of behavior kids are raised to believe is acceptable these days. I think it's a combination of anonymity of the internet, and social-behavioral related; in that they pick up this way of talking and interacting with others from their peers, and imagine it's the 'cool and acceptable' way to communicate.

God help me if I'm wrong though.

you're wrong and here's why

morals and ethics are taught by environment and perception and passed on from generation to generation. if we just talk about the US and not canada and not mexico and not any of the other nations because they're not on the north american servers prior to the 50's people were expected to live a certain way - a man who works married to a woman who takes care of the home and children that were expected to grow up and do the same.

so lets say someone was born at the end of that era (as many of the older generation were). they have the option of either growing up to carry on the tradition or forsake the tradition to start a new one. in the 60s many many people set out to create a new tradtion that promoted drug abuse, sexual experimentation, and anarchy - those people had children sometime around the 70's and early 80's and their children grew up without tradition - or in other words without a purpose or goal - because the idea of anarchy is very radical in and of itself. the children born in the 70's experienced the failures of the government pretty much daily and were encouraged by the ideas of their parents to carry on the tradition of anarchy, drug abuse, and sexual experimentation. that generation would have children in the 90s and early 2000's with constant looming thoughts about the end of the world coming up, the military no longer drafted soldiers so the realities of war were lost on many, and internet was created so many many many chances for propaganda started springing up.

the children that passed on the older traditions to the next generation quickly became lost among the ones that passed on the new traditions simply because drugs are addicting, sex is instinctual, and the idea of no laws sounds great in theory, but when put to practice is a complete nightmare. who doesnt want to be their own boss?

so after 2 generations of welfare for the many people who refused to carry on tradition the government has simply ran out of money to give and all of those families that strayed from tradition no longer have any means to support themselves because they didnt pass down skills and knowledge to the next generation because quite frankly they didnt have any to pass down in the first place.

many of the children of the 90's and 2000's grew up poor and in broken homes with parents who knew very little about what it meant to be successful being told they're inferior and they're wrong and if they want something they should work for it - which is ironic coming from people who did not. so those children did work and learned and honestly most of that generation started to surpass their elders thanks to the internet, but then they stumbled across the propaganda and the ideas of the failed tradition and started to berate their elders for the mistakes they made and blaming others became a habit.

so skip forward 20 years and you have people unwilling to accept advice from others and constantly blaming others for their own faults because it has become tradition. to work hard and you'll be rich - which is complete bull. you can slave away your entire life and it wont matter. and its not because corporations are greedy, but because our traditions are completely flawed. and people are starting to realize that now and because of that many are starting to give up, lose hope, or become completely berserk and striking out against others.

now lets go back to those that DID pass down the traditions from the 50's - their families are still successful. they took the knowledge of their elders and had it crammed down their throats until they were able to succeed and filled the void left by those who turned away from tradition. the children that were born in the 70's became business owners and expanded upon their own knowledge by getting into college. their children were born in the 90's and are the rich entitled kids who we see from time to time driving around in their parents cars - their parents angry at the world for how much they had to work just to end up middle class when the other members of their generation were allowed to get by on government funds.

so the whole "entitled" thing is more or less just a backlash of breaking away from tradition. women and men no longer know how to approach each other so there's a major loss of identity and of course it's causing the ripple effect we see now-a-days.

in other words yes children are taught to be this way. only those with certification should be allowed an opinion and anyone else is just an annoyance that doesnt deserve the right to exist. you see it everywhere. employment, debates, community settings, schools, etc. and it's justified by the idea that there are too many people in the world.

I don't understand why behavior like the OP's isn't escalated to a permaban manually. It's fucking ridiculous Tantrum, and you know it. Telling people to harm or kill themselves should have a zero tolerance policy. There's never an instance where it's acceptable.

My goal is always to fix things at a systematic level. It would be impossible for me to deal with things on a case-by-case basis. We are constantly making changes to the system to better detect serious things such as this. We have to strike a happy medium between allowing playful banter/trash talk .. when it's just too much .. and immediate action in the no-go-zone. We very recently made some changes to better detect this sort of thing, but most of the team's focus is currently on honor.

I see the cases that come in. When someone exhibits this behavior and gets a penalty of any sort, I know that the system will continue to action them if they do not change their behavior.

I appreciate your candid feedback on this.

Telling someone they should harm themselves, others, or making threats yourself is bannable for the first offense. If you believe you were treated unfairly you can submit a Support Ticket for a manual review, but you'll probably just lose your account. I recommend muting players and not getting into fights or insulting and making such offensive suggestions; there are real people on the other side of that screen and this sort of behavior is not tolerated.

I really wish people would read what I took the time to type out and explain, before they commented. Allow me to say it again. "THE GAME WITH THE "Kill yourself" COMMENTS WERE BETWEEN ME AND A "Friend" WHO I HAVE KNOWN FOR YEARS, WE HAD AN ARGUMENT BECAUSE HE IS EASILY TRIGGERED OVER VIDEO GAMES, AND HE TOLD ME TO SLIT MY WRISTS, ETC. I RESPONDED WITH INSULTS THAT WERE RELATED TO THE THINGS HE WAS SAYING TO ME, AND IT WAS AN ARGUMENT BETWEEN JUST THE TWO OF US, NEITHER OF US WAS TOXIC TO ANYONE IN THE GAME. I read it, it's irrelevant. There are other people in the match too; if you and your friend want to violate the rules for chat to such a degree, you should stick with voice chat instead of involving the other players. You're free to submit a ticket, that is how you contest a punishment.

The "other people in the match" were my premade group. So no, I was not violating anything. Everyone who saw the chat understood that it was an argument between us and did not care. He reported me to spite me, and I got punished for it. Simple as that. And no, it is not irrelevant. I wrote out that long paragraph for a purpose, and nobody seems to understand that, or pay attention to it at all. But anyways, thanks for the comments. I understand your point of view, and I appreciate it. Thanks.

If this person didn't like your behavior he's well within his rights to report it whether he's part of your premade or not, that doesn't mean you can treat him however you like. Riot will not punish you if nobody reports you.

It's not about my behavior at all. I wish you could understand, but clearly not many people do or will. It was simply him being the kind of person he is, and getting way too upset because I said "you could have lanterned me btw" and it turned into him throwing insults at me as fast as he could, and as you can see, I returned with more insults. just because it was between your premade doesn't make it acceptable in other's eyes.

Also, your premade can still report you if they didn't like what you said.

If you don't want to be punished for Riot's system, then don't use Riot's medium as a form of communication such as this.

if "bad" = seeing someone struggle to understand how to fit in with social norms, then probably. Because if OP doesn't learn, then more people are going to experience the negativity (e.g. being told to kill yourself). I feel more sad, personally. Not that it's any more productive, though, lol.

First of all, you deserved it. You're toxic, you talked a helluva lot, and you continually called someone a retard, while also telling them to kill themselves.

Second of all, to get punished, you get reported for the same offense over a series of games, not just one. So if you've been reported for offensive speech in 10 different games or however many it takes, that's why you are punished. It only takes 1 valid report from however many games they require to get punished.

I read it, and you were pretty nasty and hostile. And like I said, you don't get punished for a single game unless you say something particularly horrific. Since you are punished, this means you've been reported in many games for the same behavior.

I was nasty and hostile in the two games that I believe they shouldnt count. If you had read what I said, you would know this. The one game I was sincerely toxic in was the game with the darius, and I take responsibility for that.

The game I said "Kill yourself" in, was the game with my "friend", and he had told me to slit my wrists, etc. as I said, it was an argument inbetween me and him, neither one of us was being "Toxic" to anyone. We were arguing, as we have been "Friends" for years. Please, read through again. I hope you come to understand what I spent the time to explain in my post. Thanks!

Then why were you still reported? This is the one part why no one wants to believe your crap. It can be either a non-premade teammate doesn't like what you said, or you need new friends.

Just drop the act. We've seen threads like this thousands of times, and it's not that difficult to know what kind of crappy excuses people tend to use in order to get out of their punishment.

It's not an "act". I was reported by one person, in all three instances. I know, because all but one of them i was in premades. Is english not your main language? I fail to understand half of what you said. "This is the one part why no one wants to believe your crap" That makes literally no sense. I'm not making "crappy excuses" I explained what happened, and admitted where I was wrong. I simply dont think two of these games were punishable offenses. Although yes, One of them was, seeing as I could have just muted him. I hope this helps you understand a little better. And also, why are you being toxic in a toxic chat restriction appeal thread? I never said those were not toxic, I said that I dont think they deserve a punishment, because of the circumstances me and the people i was arguing with were under. If you had read everything I said, you would understand that. But clearly, more than half of you just came in here to flame me and nothing more. You can pretend all you want. No matter how much crap you said about me or others, your punishment was fully justified.

I've also took the liberty to check on who's in your group, and the only person I can find is this "Mooper" guy. This was never a group, you were just duo'ing & you literally talked crap in front of 3 other random strangers in 3 different games who don't approve the way you speak, plus adding the fact that your conversation with Darius was also a legit-reportable game as well.

Like Deep Terror Nami said, if there's something that you rather converse with just your group, keep that conversation content to yourself, by using either Voice Chat or use "/r Mooper".

EDIT: Just noticed that Vlad game with the Moopette. No matter, you still rant/curse/swear in front of 2 other random strangers.

It was a single game, for one. Two, it was not even me and Moooper who were upset with eachother. It was my "friend" shwazy. There was one stranger in the game, and they told me in the post game screen that they were reporting my "Friend". Please, if you're going to go to so much trouble to try and research my claims so you can look like a smart "badass" or whatever it is you were aiming for, please do it correctly. You were literally wrong about everything you said, friend. Atleast you tried to correct yourself though. I appreciate it. have a great day!

I can also give valid proof, that gives a showing of who shwazywazy is to him, or was to him. So no, it wasn't a random person, as if you could've seen the chat logs, you could've seen the IRL threats that he was throwing at Sketchyx, that clearly a "random/stranger" wouldn't know, haha.

I have the entire skype conversation between the both of them, after the game had ended. )

the problem that is failed to be seen is that other people are seeing the chat. you are not the only people experiencing the game, being toxic in front of people is no better than being toxic to people. if it's seen it can and should be banned. its like hitting your girlfriend in the store and telling everyone its a joke. do people really believe its a joke?

it doesnt matter who you're saying it to. the fact that in a game where it is a report-able offense to verbally harass anyone, don't complain when you get banned when someone sticks up for your friend who you were "just joking" with because the fact is that suicide isn't a joke, and you using it, as one, is offensive to more people than just the receiving party.

so deal with it kid, and learn before you are perma'd because it will happen if you keep making an ass of yourself.

"kid" is toxic as it is, but you took it a step further, kid. And yes, it does matter. He was telling me in graphic detail how he wanted me to end my life, over and over. So if suicide is not a joke to you, then you should be sympathetic with me, not insulting me in a comment on an anti-toxic forum, right???? And no, nobody "Stuck up for him", either. Yeah dude, consider this a warning from riot. This was without question toxic like behavior. You don't have to listen, but take the chat restriction and focus more on your own play rather than complaining about others. It's no ones job to help you win the game. You have to understand that you are on a team with 4 other people who also think their the main character. Focus on self play before you worry about others. I used to act like this a lot, but I eventually got into the habit of using the "/mute all" command and my play improved a lot. Who cares what other people say, be the mature one in the game. Be nice to others, and respect everyone.
