Purposely banning your own teams champ picks

Pickledaisho··6 votes·2,241 views

There needs to be one if not all feature added to get around this extremely annoying instance of people on your own team banning the champ you have picked. There may be some valid reason for a person banning a particular champ regardless of what other team member want, but it punishes those team member that want to play it. There needs to be a way around of this unintentional yet exceedingly frustrating occurrence.

One way would be to allow people to report, from champ select, when someone does in fact do this. Fairly simple and, if i remember correctly, prevents the two players from being able to be grouped with each other after the match which would also prevent that from happening again.

The other way would to allow for the person who's champ is banned to be allowed to drop from the lobby without incurring a dodge queue timer. Some people really are playing the game, when they can, to play a specific champ. You could say the samething about a specific role but that is a different discussion. If given limited time to play the game, a 6min queue timer can be the difference of someone being able to play and not being able to play.

I am speaking on a point of view of normal games btw, not ranked where, with the increase of competition being the main point of ranked, I don't think this argument would have any validity.

I don't want to be reported if someone just happens to hover the champ that I ban in 100% of my games.

Every game, I ban this champ unless I personally am playing it. It's not right to punish people who always ban a champ no matter who hovers it.

It's not against them on hovering it. But I shouldn't be punished for not wanting that champ in my game. That's why I don't like this idea.

I mean, if it's supposed to be a team game, and you aren't really communicating with your team or refusing to listen to what they are saying, which in this case, would be the champ in which they are saying they are going to play, i'd say it should be you who drops from the game, not the player wanting to play a champ. Though i do understand where you're coming from on not wanting to be punished, which, the second idea I put up, I think would be better overall. It would allow no one to really get punished and everyone can get back to playing quickly.

But,shouldn't you consider checking them out,and their KDA + Win Rate?

All players get a chance to play every champion Doesn't that include playing their main if they want to?

I feel like this would be situational... If that person is first pick and guaranteed to get this champion, you shouldn't ban it. If they're among the 3rd pick group, I'd be fine with it being banned. You are, in fact, hindering your team by preventing that person from getting the champ they want to get, and i feel like that could possibly be a reportable offence.

Its not, everyone is entitled to a ban, regardless of who it is.

Real life situation would be denying someone service at any food service business. They rarely ever will, but they all technically can deny you service and they don't have to give a reason either.

There is no A is allowed to ban X, but B wants to play X and can report A for banning X. No its A can ban X and B has to deal with it and pick Y. Just like B could ban X and A would have to deal with it and pick their Y.

Things I do not want on my team:

Yasuo LeeSin Vayne Kayn Riven

If I see any of these champs in my allies OP.GG they're getting banned. Mechanically intensive champions that typically invite the most toxic players who lack the skill to utilize them. The result is them losing and blaming everyone else for why they suck. I'd rather ban them out and they dodge/pick some meta-sheep ez to play back up champ than deal with the feeding Yasuo flashing his mastery 7 badge as he dies for the 7th time in 10 minutes.

So you'd rather be just as much of a dick is really what you're saying. either way, instead of punishing them by forcing them to dodge, the second idea I put up should be put in place. Hopefully, in the next game they'd get into, they'll be the only dick on the team.

You should consider someone actually not being toxic, cancerous, etc.,right? Not all Yas,Lee,Vayne,Kayn or Riven mains are cancerous or toxic, some of them are actually pretty calm and chill. You should see their honor level,KDA,win rate,or stuff like that. Doesn't matter what main they got,as long as they play the game peacefully and cooperatively.

There's a lovely thing that Riot implemented called the Mute button. That and the report button post-game should be all you need to circumvent this^^^

I hate when my team bans Teemo on me when I get autofilled top and that's one of the only things I play top, just because they see it as a "troll" pick or simply just dislike the champion

teemo top is amazing tho, hard to gank. when i see teemo top i avoid it as a jungler lol

MythPuppy1 votes

I feel for you man. This literally only happens to me when I play teemo, which is pretty much all the time.

Feel ya man, same here with my yasuo.. They ban him just cause they think I'll feed all game, but they didn't check anything of my out, they see it as if bronze is only noobs, never considered them thinking if some of us are smurfing and got a new account and now are trying to rank up...

BlueThingamajig2 votes

There is a functional workaround to not getting your declared champion banned: Don't declare a champion. That way, people who troll-ban their teammates cannot do so with your choice.

XxAZAPxX1 votes

What happens if they ban him anyways? :/

BlueThingamajig1 votes

Well, then you're unlucky. But nobody is deliberately banning the champion you want.

when they ask you not to ban champ B and have selected champ A its like idc what you say if i want to ban this champs and i came into lobby with the intention of not dealing with champ B you can play the one you have selected.

had a game where someone banned yas and this kid flipped out...his history was all yas games in ranked averaging a kda of 3/20/~~ and he had a bad winrate as yas...

Pickledaisho1 votes

Well ya, if they've selected a champ and ask you not to ban another, maybe they should have chosen the other. That's what that phase of champ select if for, to show the champ you're wanting to play. I can understand wanting a back up but, that's more subjective. This is also not really what the post is about >.>

There I Agree,if they're bad with him,you should say,

Try playing something else for a change, not all of the people in the world will give you your yasuo..and you suck with him..honestly. Look at your winrate + kda dude.. So I agree on that, but banning yas just cause. That's unfair, but here it's totally approved.

Blind pick mode

Is also, ffa role. Doesn't help. If they got rid of blind pick and or had blind pick have the role selector prior to queue, then sure, valid point. But that's not the case.

We're trying to rank up,not play normos..

General Esdeath 1 votes

To rank up you gotta know how to adapt, play more than one champ, and learn strategy, like banning a highly contested champ that your last pick wants because you don't want the enemy to get it.

XxAZAPxX1 votes

We should try to ask riot for a solution, here's my solution;Your team can't ban your declared champion, but the enemy team can(because they don't see who you picked).

Or don't hover your champ? Or don't get butthurt if a highly banned champ gets banned?

Not trying to be a dick, but everyone has their right to ban whoever they want. They can and will damn well pick who they want. While it is frowned on knowingly doing it to a teammate that wants to play X champ, you have every right to ban X champ anyways if you want to. Like I said in one of my posts here, I myself HATE ZED and ORIANNA. I could care less if someone on my team wants to play them, they aren't fun in games I play so they won't exist in games I play in. Don't like it? Play Blind pick or dodge. I don't like when I get my champ banned but I don't throw a hissy fit about it, I just deal with it and play the next favorite champ.

This entire post has basically been an oversensitive carebear fest and its pathetic in my opinion. The game used to force you to know all 5 roles and be semi decent in all of them, and be good at a couple champs in each role. It dropped down to knowing 2 roles and hopefully knowing a few champs in each. Now its 2 roles and know only 1 champ and cry if said champ doesn't get through? You people need to stop sucking and learn more champs...God forbid your precious Yasuo got banned.

Shonjl1 votes

OP, you can't report for someone banning your pick, regardless of how you like it or not. Everyone is given a ban, to ban WHO THEY PLEASE.

If they don't want to deal with X champ, they can ban it, thats it.

I myself can't stand Zed,Ornn,Urgot,Orianna. So I always ban one of them, generally Urgot gets banned before I pick and Ornn sometimes as well so I usually ban Zed or Ori. I don't have fun with them in my games. I don't care if someone wants to play them. I don't want them in my game, so they won't be.

If you are butthurt about your pick being banned, play Blind Pick. If my champ gets banned, I just say crap, and pick another since other than garbage players that have no right to make opinions should have more than 1 champ to choose from.
