The League Community: Usually Good but contains some of the worst people on the Earth

I have been playing league for roughly 5 months now. I have played some online games in the past like "Call of Duty," ME3, etc and online gaming gets a bad wrap for having horrible people saying horrible things. While most of the people that I have met on League have been nice, I have encountered, far and away, one of the worst communities of players that I have ever seen in online gaming. That is saying a lot. I'm still new to the game but am frequently placed against people that have been playing it for years. Sometimes I do okay, usually I struggle (honestly, the matchmaking is terrible but that's a different topic). When I struggle, it is likely that someone will start jumping all over me, rarely more than one, and start a verbal onslaught. This includes, but is not limited to, insults on my intelligence, death threats, and wishes that I would commit suicide. While the majority of the people don't care that I am struggling, these toxic individuals are the most vocal of the people which means that the League Community gets a horrible wrap. I don't think that it should be considered as bad as it is, as I'm sure that there are other online communities that are far worse, but the League Community is still, by far, the worst I have come across, worse than YouTube. There are certain things that I let slide, like a team mate saying "WTF" if I do something stupid, but there are many things that I simply cannot ignore. Wishing death upon someone, telling someone that they are worthless, telling someone to kill themselves are things that are never okay to do and are grounds for legal punishment. Yet, despite the number of people that I have come across that have said these horrible things to me (and there have been a lot), and despite the reports that I have filed to Riot (which have also been many), only one has been punished. The rest are still playing and still being toxic. These reports are not just for Toxicity, I also report people for trolling, AFK'ing and Ragequitting. Of the many of them that I have reported, only one has been punished. I understand that sometimes life happens but not like this. So, what do I want? I figured I should get to that as I have explained both problems that I have. I first want the majority of League players, to stop letting Toxicity slide and report that players that need to be reported. That is something that is not difficult and literally only takes a few seconds of your time. The second problem, the much larger problem that I have, is with the Riot employees "reviewing" these reports. As far as I can tell, it is almost impossible to get punished by Riot for being toxic despite their claims that they are trying to fix the problem. This makes Riot look like a horrible company, with horrible customer service (yes, it's true, Riot doesn't even have an email for customer service) that doesn't care about their players and doesn't care about their image. People are literally committing crimes with Harassment and Death Threats in their game, yet they do nothing to stop it. This needs to change. Riot, you need to do what you say you are going to do. Toughen up, and punish the people that need to be punished. If you don't, then your community will continue to be the cesspool of Toxicity that it is now.
