People are so soft and weak.

I mean. You can mute people, but you prefer them to be banned pernamently from the game, because they hurt your very very soft heart. Toxicity is everywhere. In real life too. Deal with it. Or maybe we should kill all the toxic people? Bear in mind that you will also be toxic at some point.

I don't remember who said it, but you can equate it to this:

Just because there is a fire extinguisher in my house, doesn't mean you can try to burn it down.

And just because I have a 'mute' button, doesn't mean you can be toxic.

A person who chooses to mute flamers and avoid negativity and toxicity in an online world isn't soft and weak. They're smart.

Also, just because there's an option to mute flamers, doesn't mean you can just go around and insult people like it's nothing. Let's not use the mute button as an excuse to violate the rules.

Isn't is softer and weaker to come cry about being punished for things you know you did wrong? You need to be made of sterner stuff if being reported and banned due to your own behavior triggers you.

"Other people are so sensitive they need to learn to deal with this" "OMG THIS GUY ISNT DOING WHAT I WANT IN A VIDEO GAME I HAVE TO ANONYMOUSLY CALL HIM NAMES ON THE INTERNET"

ModPrandine2/1/2019, 5:55:04 PM10 votes

To quote Chermorg:

It being the internet doesn’t change the fact this is a game people play to enjoy, not to be flamed for every little tiny mistake.

From Ulanopo’s Knowledge Base:

“People who report are simply being oversensitive. The mute button exists for a reason.”

Let’s start with the Riot quote on this (link (http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=30696571#post30696571)):

Why is verbal abuse punishable if there is a mute button/language filter? Players shouldn’t need to rely on features like the mute button or language filter to engage with other players in positive ways. When a player verbally abuses another player and forces him to use the mute button, they have already created a negative experience for that player.

Simply put, Riot says no. You can scream and cry all you want, but it is their house and their rules.

With that out of the way, I think the topic deserves some further discussion. The theory is that, if people resolved to care less, then they would be happier. I often refer to this as ”Argument from Stoicism” and I think it is a fairly weak philosophy because it places the burden on the person being expected to endure the behavior rather than the person exhibiting the behavior. “You should be able to handle it” is just a flimsy excuse for being a bully or a jerk. I have to be the bigger man so that you can do whatever you want? That hardly seems fair.

There is also the issue of how I spend my limited free time. Like most people, I am constantly required to make value judgments between the different forms of entertainment that are available to me and, let's be honest, we live in an age of nearly limitless entertainment options. If I'm having a bad day in League, I can just fire up Steam and play a whole bunch of games that don't require me to put up with someone's BS.

This is not an issue of weakness or thin-skin; it's a question of choosing activities that don't leave me feeling frustrated and angry. Too many of those experiences and I'll just find something else to do. Riot knows this.

How do you mean people are toxic in real life ? I dont see my boss yell noob to me and call me thrash. When we play a video game we are to play for fun not to get flamed by some guy who cant control hes emotions or thinks he knows it all better. Its not we are weak its that toxic players need to stop being toxic.

You are mistaking offending and hurting people with annoying people.

You aren't hurting people, you are annoying.

If one of my teammates flames another enough to tilt the other teammate to the point of hurting their performance, exactly what the fuck does a mute function do for me?

King Braum2/1/2019, 5:22:45 PM5 votes

So what, we shouldn't strive for a better community and punish those who completely disregard others?

If a person is banned is it not because they decided to put others down repeatedly and then still continue to not try and better their own behavior? They have already gone through chat restriction and several other bans at that point so would you not say they deserve to be kicked out if they refuse to change their behavior?

you can try to be toxic in real life too

but dont wonder when ppl kick your from their places and/or hate you and avoid you completely

also i prefer playing with ppl who use the chat box for strategy or asking for one not a guy yelling at ppl because he cant handle his anger in a god damn game

100%. Banter and trash talk is a part of literally EVERY competitive sport, but riot redefined what "toxic" means so they can just ban people for silly bs, taking away everything they've earned, knowing full well that they're addicted to the game and will come back to spend more money. Business is business my guy, and they're banking on the all SJW snowflakes in the world (and on this board) to back them up wit their tears.
