Dota 2 has far less toxicity than lol and here's why

As someone who has spent about 2000 hours across multiple accounts on league and about 700 hours on dota 2, I think I know why dota 2 is far, far less toxic and in general feels more chilled out.

  • you can abandon a match without penalties if someone ragequits. You won't be stuck in an unwinnable match for the next 20 minutes, you can leave and go next if your idiot teammate leaves.
  • you have far more potential to carry. You really can scale into a late game monster if you pick the right hero with the right items. You can quite literally become invincible, one shot kill and teleport across the map at will and 1v9 your way to victory. You aren't held back to the same extent by your teammates as you are in league.
  • while there are divisions, there are no promos and you don't get demoted. Your mmr is not some hidden stat, it is quite literally a number you can see and it goes up or down and you will always be matched with people with fairly similar mmrs.
  • bans and punishments are actually deserved. People rarely get punished for flaming, and instead trolls, inters and afks get punished quite hard, especially in ranked. This is far better than league where you can ruin games without getting punished, but if you mention certain keywords you will get chat restricted.

The social experiment is over. And it has devolved into a cash grab scheme by the companies who own them.

What experiment?

The online multiplayer competitive game.

Whether it's LoL, Dota, Counterstrike, Overwatch, or whatever else. The result is always the same when complete strangers are forced in a situation in which they must rely on each other to defeat an opposing group of strangers.

Lack of trust, unwillingness to compromise and cooperate, and the readiness to shift blame for failure onto others. Failure fosters toxicity and success fosters addiction.

The grass is not greener on the other side of the fence.

As to why you were down voted. Dota is an entirely different game from League. If you think it is so great and league is so terrible then why are you on a LoL message board posting about it?

Good to know I have been thinking of getting into dota and reading this makes me want to play it more.

But it's sad that people are downvoting you for probably no reason other then you mentioned dota when stuff like this is A REALLY HELPFUL DISCUSSION.

If another game does something better then it should be talked about since it may help in league.

Like what you said about punishments that's my biggest problem it's super uneven and feels like riot doesn't even try to stop trolls and just goes for toxicity when though it's probably the least game affecting in what gets punished.

Or MMR smite does the same fucking thing you can clearly see it and there is no reason not to show it to players in league.

The fact that people think lol is more toxic than dota 2 is hilarious [sg-miss-fortune]

Idk about the culture there, but I know DOTA2 feels like a more challenging moba. The donkeys or whatever, and the denying creep. Who wants to focus on their own CS, AND last hitting your own creeps to deny cs? Thats just too much shit to focus on in lane lol. League is the more casual version. And its played by so many damn people, youre gonna get the worst of the worst.
