LeaverBuster Questions/rant

Note: A few of these involve a slight rant, i'm sorry. :(

  1. Will I get a leaverbuster count if my client crashes at the start of the game, but i reconnect a few secs later?

  2. Why does leaver buster bust you if you leave a coop vs ai game? You can literally have only 1 person playing intro/beginner bots and still win and its not ruining much of anything.

  3. Change the leaverbuster time stuff. One of my friends had to wait 20 minutes before the matchmaking queue started because he disconnected in literally 3 bot games. Now he has to wait 20 minutes before he can do anything on the game.

Thanks.

  1. If you reconnect fast enough, I believe you won't get flagged by Leaverbuster. If it takes long enough to reconnect to the point where your champion is standing in base for a few minutes, then yes, you will get flagged by Leaverbuster. Keep in mind, though, that you won't actually get punished unless this is happening quite frequently.

  2. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe one reason for this could be to put in the minds of new players (since they can only play Co-op vs. AI for the first few levels) that leaving is unacceptable in this game. I'm sure there are other reasons that Riot has, but I don't know what they are.

  3. If your friend has the 20 minute punishment, then they have left a lot more than just 3 bot games. Leaverbuster punishments start at a 5 minute wait for 5 games, then a 10 minute wait for 5 games, then 20 minute wait for 5 games, and more 20 minute waits for any punishments after that. This means that your friend has left enough games to receive the 5 and 10 minute waits, and possibly even more for other 20 minute waits. This is a large number of games he has left/disconnected from, and there is always something you can do to prevent yourself from getting to this point.

  1. Nope! Leaverbuster only kicks in if you're idle for minutes at a time. There's a special case for /remade games where if you're the person that causes the vote to pass (by being gone for, I think, over 3 minutes before a kill has been made), you'll be automatically low prioritized. If you disconnect and immediately come back, you're safe.

  2. Because it's coop vs AI. You're still ruining someone else's game by AFKing in it. If you want to mess around or check that your connection, make a custom game. Leaverbuster only cares about matchmaking.

  3. See 2. If your friend wants to play around and not care about AFK, custom games are the way to go. Matchmaking exposes other innocent summoners to shenanigans.
