It’s Sad the Best Way to Fight Toxic Behavior Is to Not Do Anything About It During the Game

Yeah, we have all read the same tips again and again. "Mute and report afterward." It doesn't matter if another player tells you they're going to rape your mom. It doesn't matter if they tell you to kill yourself. It doesn't matter if they use every bad word under the sun. You're supposed to mute them (and thus you stop engaging with them) and then report them when the game is done.

It's how you keep your own account clean. It's how you get the highest honor rates (seriously).

It's just sad that this is the equivalent of how many schools in America tell you to endure the bullying and then (hopefully) let the system work itself out. A lot of schools tell you to curl up in a ball and just let the bullies pound on you. It's "bad" if you fight back.

On one hand, I understand the sentiment. Let's not add further fuel to the fire, but League is a toxic game. It hasn't changed much now in 2020 (as I have quit the game off and on over the years). Just today, I had my bot lane flame me as a scapegoat because they wanted something to blame. I muted them and then reported them afterward. All I can do is hope they'll get some kind of punishment eventually.

By Riot's rules, I have done the right thing, but it still doesn't feel good. Riot really does give toxic players a lot of leeway to be toxic. It doesn't solve the problem as we continue to go in circles about this topic.

Sigh. Mute and report afterward... I suppose.

How is it sad? They arent going to ban you for a small comeback or quip, or telling them to stop. If you repeatedly harass them back, then yes, thats on you. No one wants to hear your bs in chat in game, take your quarrel elsewhere. This isnt real life, youre not getting followed and harassed by someone, you literally have the power to silence them and solve the issue right then and there, as well as have them removed from the game itself after.

You deciding to make the game worse for the other 8 players doesnt somehow absolve you of wrongdoing because the other started it. We literally do not care. We just want to play the game.

I don't need to read the whole thing to know this is garbage and just you being a sensitive baby. First of all, letting mentally ill nerds with low IQs get under your skin? Well I can understand if you're one of them too I guess but I'm laughing cause it's literally so easy to /mute all. All toxicity is, is a distraction that's why to combat it you got muteall, they even added the option to remove chat like what more do you babies want? This like when they say "if you getting cyberbullied, just turn off the computer stupid" duh.

Both examples are simply passing the buck because no one in a position to ultimately address the problem wants the responsibility to do so. I mean, what do you expect from a company that victim-blames and their fanatical followers parrot the false idealism everywhere anyone disagrees that you cannot expect people to act like emotionless robots.

I'm here to play a game, not to read two rejects fight each other because 1 was starting shit and the other is insecure and has to """fight back""" which ultimately doesn't solve or do ANYTHING. I want my teammates to play the damn game, get over it, and either suck it up and work together or do something progressive to not hinder the game even more. If Riot allowed arguments, it'll just be two afks sitting in fountain all day typing nonsensical bullshit to each other and ruin the game for the rest of us. You cannot equal school to League of Legends, school is where you're dealing with the same people IN PERSON and League of Legends is a 20-40 minute game with random people you'll never see again.

Literally, just ignore what they say and don't hold their words with such high value, have some self-esteem, and report them afterwards so Riot can build a case against them/punish their bitch asses.

you can report them as many times as you want. won't change the fact riot won't do shit about it. and if you so much as make one remark back you are the one punished, not them.

Jesus Christ the moral high-roading from some of these people is disgusting. I for one wholly agree with the original poster, Riot's delusional to be asking people to just turn the other cheek when they get shit on game after game. And of course once these posts get downvoted to 0 or lower, they become invisible to anyone who isn't logged in. Cute.

I disagree entirely. Its great. Trying to fight it in game would be a fucking mess. Im sure youve had games where one calls the other toxic and it turns into a huge game derailing arguement about social bullshit, instead of the actual game. Keep that shit out of chat. It would be great if everyone just ignored a flamer, and they get out of a game to see theyre chat restricted or banned or whatever, AND they didnt even get any attention from anyone in game. That will never happen though cuz everyones so self righteous and taught that they should express every pointless fucking opinion in their heads cuz twitter and social media is so popular. Its a joke. Stfu and play. Stop trying to police people in games.

Remember, the point of the game is to play it. Your opinion on toxicity has nothing to do with the game. So if someone is being toxic, why talk about it? Mute them, report them, and move on.

Sad? Not really lol. Its not that hard to just mute people. I've been around way too many people that does nothing but insult irl. You can't mute people irl, but you can just not listen to them or don't take it personally. People are assholes. If my teammate is getting trashed, I don't want them to type back. I want them to keep playing. I'm sure my teammates would like me to keep focusing on playing too and not socializing with assholes. The instant a teammate is being toxic, their intentions is not to win, they've gone past the hope of winning. If an enemy is being toxic to you, then they're trying to tilt you to win. Chances are, they're tilted and is trying to find some way to win. Don't bother responding. Focus on the game, focus on winning. Riot can't fix toxicity and stop trying to defend yourself. You DON'T NEED to defend yourself, these people are toxic. They're already making themselves look bad. People already know this game has a ton of toxic players. Mute and move on, its better. Honestly, its fun to see people so mad.

This game, from the very lobby, is a rigged piece of garbage that's made to keep you hooked and that endorses toxicity. I have started capturing snapshots of all the games I play, and these toxic features are obviously intentional. You experience toxicity, and well established and clearly unpunished in some people, since the very lobby, but get punished when lashing out.

I regularly yearly quit this garbage of a game and you should too, or at least play it for a month or so a year, and then let it rot. There's plenty of actual other free good games around.

And of course, don't give them a dime because the game doesn't deserve it, with all its malpractices:

  1. It's intentionally flawed to increase punishment reward effect and artificially keep players hooked, making good people think defeat is their fault when matchmaking puts them in team with mouth breathing, regularly toxic or plain troll, subhumans that should not own a fucking computer, and that grief, troll, feed and blame others when they're 1 7 3 (my average jungler, not shitting you)
  2. It's full of hidden mechanics. Matchmaking knows perfectly your average distance to your team, your teamfight proficiency, your lane domination factor among dozens other parameters, and uses those to keep you as nearly below 50% ranked winrate as possible, so that you don't advance unless you play with somebody else whos' good, only to achieve slightly better, below 50% winrate
  3. Have you noticed how your winrate drops dramatically after each S? Win an S game solo, prepare to get 75iq feeding trash mid, bot and jg. I have the screenshots.
  4. It's an intentionally toxic pile of flaming shit. Griefers and trolls, stupidly obvious to detect mathematically even for a college dropout with all the metric data they collect, are left to rampage. Point is trolls and feeders and inters are good for business, since controversy fuels the punishment reward effect above. Once, you got a message that thanked you because you reported a subhuman. This has stopped 4 years ago I think, at this point. Feeders and inters are literally unpunished. Dem's were da mony's at, dawg.
  5. It's a miserable, subhuman fueled pay to win experience. Every new champ comes with an increased winrate due to mongoloid obvious op stats (see sett shield, qiyana, sylas, etc. I could go on non-stop i guess), and sometimes they're slightly nerfed, while off meta old ones get actually nerfed into submission.
  6. Meanwhile, annoying and toxic garbage champs like yASSuo (from the well known mentally challenged individual that's so dear to rito, and that invented similar other cash grab garbage), keep getting buffed every season while rito says they're nerfing them (and in reality in paper they're actually literally buffing. Real fact. This happens all the time. Google it.), for the simple reason that they attract mouth breathers that spend $$$ for shiny shit.
  7. Technical trash. You really think you're so bad at farming or teamfighting? I've watched my replays to realize that I deal last hits to the cs and they die without gold retribution, when there's no minion hitting them. And what about magical misses on skillshots? It's simple math. If the thing has 90hp and you deal 100 with an auto attack or skill, it's yours, but magically, repeatedly so happens that just because there's allied minions near you, that last hit wasn't yours. It's obviously latency, but what sort of a piece of shit networking subsystem allows this. And I fucking play with 50ms.
  8. Rampant cheats. It's a fact. Once there was a site called elobuddy where people could download scripts for auto farm, auto last hit enemy champions, auto dodge enemy skills, auto use items like botrk, and similar other, even more advanced, spineless garbage. That site is now closed but guess what, it was one in a dozen. Now rito claims that this piece of trash 'engine' they have is better at handling scripts but guess what, it's not. You can regularly see those unrankeds doing 25 - 3 in a level 0 champ, once every 10 or so games. They're not regular smurfs. They're cheaters. Quite probably cheater smurfs. Check your games. Look at how many times you get those. Second my screenshots, it's one in every 15 games or less.
  9. These very forums. A piece of flaming pile of trash that can't even pull a numbered list properly, where never ever happened that an actual rito employee ever considered anything that was written.

Seriously. Quit at least for 10 months a year. It's not hard. The game is garbage. Do your placements for the kick of it and maybe play some more to get out of elo hell, but then stop.
