Baiting people into getting reported.

Hey, Riot.

First of all, I'd like to thank you guys for making such a fun and competitive game that is arguably becoming timeless. But honestly, there should be a way to totally and 100% disable ALLCHAT and CHAT from your game in profile settings. There is a certain sect of the community that sits and baits people into raging through passive-aggressive harassment, simply so that they can report them. When you have 2-3 players pushing you again and again and saying things in ways that may not warrant a ban, and then you respond by blowing up, I hardly see that as a fair situation. Honestly, I don't play this game to talk to people. I don't WANT to talk to people, I just want to play this amazing game that you guys have created. Would this be such a big deal if Riot wasn't obsessed with PC culture? Not it wouldn't. But your recent moves to be as politically correct as possible have created a Report-Baiting subculture that is a serious problem. Again, thank you for the amazing work that you do.

I can fully understand where you’re coming from, and I do think that an option to disable chat (all of it) would help a lot of people.

The issue is, however, that there is a legitimate disadvantage to only being able to communicate through pings. Riot gave an option to disable all chat because almost nothing useful comes from talking to the enemy team (what information will you gain/lose, it’s just for banter/commenting on plays after they happen). But with team chat, your team will likely talk in chat to try and win the game. If you don’t see what they’re saying, and more so if you don’t discuss the strategies with them, you’ll find yourself losing more games, especially in higher elo.

If you have players pushing your buttons, you’re free to mute them. I know it’s not advertised as being super easy (you have to go into scoreboard), but really you just have to type /mute @champion /or/ /mute nameofperson (ex: /mute @jinx or /mute chermorg). Neither of those are case sensitive, and they don’t require you taking your eyes off the game if they’re flaming you and you want to keep playing.

I’ll end by saying that Riot has punished people who are looking to bait others into being toxic, and in at least one case I’ve seen an escalated punishment be reduced because it was obvious the person was baited and tricked into using hate speech by someone else. The case of punishments being rescinded due to provocation is the exception, but the case of people provoking being punished is the rule.

Best of luck to you on the Rift!

If you encounter someone who is a master baiter, then mute them before you explode on them

My favorite part about this post is that you're just a random guy. Who is legit more intelligent that an entire company.

Lets make multi q a thing so groups of troll friends can q and report people they don't like and then make a bot that bans people as soon as they get 2+ reports in a single game.

I feel this company is ran by some really really greedy people. They don't care about creating a competitive Ranked environment with people who care and want to win and play. They care about you buying IP and playing consistently so they can show the have active numbers of gamers player as compared to other games of the genre. Plain and simple if you want to play a game without the mass amount of trolls this game fosters and supports uninstall this game and move on to a new one or suffer through and get banned for defending yourself from trolls.

Does /muteall not do exactly that? Pretty sure this already exists, unless I totally misunderstand something here.

I got trolled by a duo, heavily, I asked the other team to report them, and the trolls LIED and said I was being toxic, and that I called them the 'N' word, and that I was being really hateful. I wasn't!! I can take a picture of my chat logs from the game that I received the ban and post it here. The enemy team believed what the trolls said to them, and the trolls asked the other team to report me for being toxic. They all reported me and I received a 2 week ban. "From player driven reports, your account has been suspended for 2 weeks."

You're responsible for your own actions/words. No one can make you say anything. Easy as that.

After putting over 1200 dollars into this game, I don't want my account banned. But honestly I'm a complete sucker when it comes to these people who think it's okay to sit and shame you and harass you for being "Silver." In part, I'm reaching out to you guys for help in regards to my own ability to cope with this type of interaction.
