Got a 14 day ban for the following 2 games:

Obviously there were toxic aspects to game 1. However in game 2 I was the one being flamed and somehow it's a part of MY punishment. So from what I see, 1 game = 14 day ban bc I said retarded and autistic %%%%. I can see that being a no no. But not really the autistic or retarded part, since it's obvious IWillDominate calls plenty of people autistic indirectly, nothing on him xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Pretty stupid ban also for calling someone who rage quit the game 3 times retarded and autistic. Obviously something is wrong with the guy if he rage quits bc he picked Syndra into Fizz..............................................................................................

No no tho, ban the person not int'ing in their game and keep the inting going. Just sad to watch tbh. Everyone only gets warnings when you report them, but god forbid we call someone who has a 0/20 match history for 15 games, retarded. Just sickening. IN MY OPINION at least. Obviously not Riot's opinion.

The fact that someone can rage quit a game 3 times in 20 minutes and ruin the game for their team and not get ANY punishment, and at the end of the day get to report someone and get them punished is SUPER controversial. That is 100% injustice. Going AFK after feeding 3 times, should result in a definite perma ban. Or atleast something worse than a 14 day ban. Calling someone a name is not nearly as effective at ruining the game as afking after you die. That is a WAY worse offense and I do believe that is justified as a true statement. You can op.gg the game and hit the spectate or whatever button and see. There were 0 internet issues stated from him. And at one point after the SECOND time he rage quit, he came back and was like "Im done" like what??????

AFKers get punished to the point of getting banned all the time. You could have just reported them and moved on with your life, but instead you decided to use slurs to express yourself. Hence, you're banned now.

I mean, I get the point you're trying to make, but it's simply not happening. I've never been so much as chat restricted. It's pretty hard to earn a punishment, the system is fairly lenient except when dealing with slurs.

I'm glad you get my point. Like I feel after one offense, they crack down on you SUPER hard. Like you have ONE bad game maybe once a month, and they punish me for it, and they ALWAYS add a game 2 that seems completely bullshit to be in a chat restriction/ban. For instance, this game 2 in my chat logs I shared above, I would like riot to pull the WHOLE team chat logs from that game and show what my team was saying to me. That game was complete hell for me specifically. I was playing Graves jg I believe and had a team lose EVERY lane by like 5 mins before I could even gank. They refused to ward, buy wards, communicate effectively, listen to calls, and over all they refused to do anything that pushed us on the winning path. And all while this is happening, they are flaming the hell out of me, and just blaming me. So obviously I was frustrated but handled it pretty fricken well if you ask me. Especially compared to Game 1 logs. Which was just me being frustrated from a feeding mao support (Not playing his role) and a baby rage Syndra mid feeding hard af and threatening afk.

Tough to enforce against poor play and failure to properly understand the flow of the game and the roles of various players.

I had a bot lane the other day feed literally twenty kills to the enemy Kogmaw despite having a superior matchup in lane, which more than offset the other lanes (including mine) winning by reasonable margins, and they also blamed the jungler and took no responsibility for their own failures. And hey, I wasn't afraid of saying literally that to them in game. But they have the right to be terrible at the game, because shit, it's a game.

Throwing aside all the other punishable comments in your log (of which there were several), this line is absolutely punishable, and will almost always merit a 14-day ban immediately.

Not, as you claim, for calling someone "autistic," although that will regularly get you punished if you do it in game chat as well. The word that registers as the "%" sign is derogatory language, and Riot punishes for it instantly, harshly, and without mercy.

I can understand that, but if you blank out words then keep the chat filter permanently on. If you do not allow such words to be used, then do not allow them to show up under ANY circumstance. Very counter productive right there. Like I didn't know we had no rights in a video game lmao

Chat filters only do so much -- people find ways around them every time. It's easier to just let people type whatever they want, and then moderate it.

You actually have all your rights -- but "freedom of speech" doesn't mean "freedom to avoid consequence." You CAN legally shout racial slurs in a movie theater -- you can't be arrested for it specifically (although maybe as a disturbance of the peace). But they're legally allowed to throw you out of their private property for violating their rules.

Riot is much the same -- the servers are private, and the game is privately operated. You're allowed to play it, but you must abide by their rules or face their consequences. It's VERY standard procedure for digital goods and services.

The system definitely isn't broken my friend. It's just tilting to see so many actual toxic players get away with it, while reporting other people. You get me? I do feel the system has gotten a lot more sensitive over the years. Like I've been super toxic and only got punished when I used a racial slur or used a death threat. No matter what, those were the ONLY 2 things I got punished for, but not if you call someone trash it's a huge deal. Idk maybe riot has gotten rid of the racial slur and death threat problem so that they are now cracking down on less major toxicity, but it definitely does seem more sensitive. Definitely for the better. I just was some justice for the people that have gotten 3 warnings when I hadn't had an offense in over a year, and I say 1 bad thing and it turned into an instant chat restriction from legitimately ONE game. They only gave me 1 game log with the chat restriction.

Interestingly, I believe the system learns from what players end up reporting. So it may be that the community has become less and less tolerant of even minor toxicity.

Some things (like that one line in the log above) escalate it pretty quickly. Riot has cracked down on hate speech, derogatory language, encouragements to self harm, and intentionally feeding -- these are all almost always immediate 14-day bans.

Their system is pretty effective, frankly. It can't catch EVERYTHING -- and, yes, it's ability to alert you that a report triggered a punishment needs work -- but it's pretty good at what it does. It just often doesn't FEEL that way since you don't see it in action unless you're hit by it.

I think ALL ranks are MMR hell. :P

Once you know the basics all the ranks really mean is how many mistakes you make out of how many possible mistakes. The same personality traits are present in all MMRs. :)

I need help refraining from typing at all.

My recommendation is actually almost the opposite, although I'll suggest two things.

The first is to try not typing anything not purely factual and purely in-game. No "that Akali is fed," no "you should have ganked," just things like "top is gankable" or "dragon in 0:50" or "coming mid. Prep for gank." Check EVERYTHING before you send it, and don't send anything you're not CERTAIN is acceptable.

The second is to start playing TWO games. The first is League mechanically -- don't play with winning in mind though. Play with IMPROVING AS A PLAYER in mind, whether you win or lose. Don't let your teammates words or in-game performance keep you from quietly trying to play the best game you can.

The second game I'd recommend playing? That of creating the best team environment you can, whether you win or lose. It DOES help -- this is often my goal, and I seem to run into a LOT of great players as a direct result. Sometimes you get players who can either tilt, or be great teammates and fun people -- and how you treat them and how you react to them makes the difference between those two states. It also can bring victories in bad situations as the team actually WANTS to work together and see each other succeed.

They get nothing for trying to provoke toxicity while BEING toxic as they provoke.

Definitely report this behavior. Attempting to provoke a toxic response is toxicity and, while it may take longer to confirm, the system CAN catch it and WILL punish for it.

Kinda obvious I try my best to win the game (Better than my team mates in chat I can tell you that much) with how much I try to effectively communicate with my team to win. There are problem lines in particular. You're telling other players how to play in impolite ways, talking down to them about their skill, and generally just being a jerk.

The rest of the logs feature occasionally minor toxicity, as you're just generally a little unfriendly and a little harsh on your teammates. There's a lot of minor negativity and some complaining, with basically no upbeat or at all friendly comments at all, and no supportive comments for anything good someone may have done. If your chat skews towards criticism and negativity, and features insults and condescending comments, you're likely to end up punished in the long run.

You can effectively communicate everything you were trying to in more positive ways, and putting some effort into trying to make people feel okay even if they're having a rough start can actually do a LOT to help bring your team together in the later game.

I'm sorry but if my bot lane is 0/20 and flaming their jgler and not doing anything to win the game, let alone be friendly, then the jgler should have the right to not be friendly back and allowed those minor negative comments. Being a jerk is nothing compared to being a complete tool. But hey, if your whole team feeds, flames you, and reports you at the end, you get punished and not them because they only get one report and you get 4..... See how unfair that really is?

It's FINE to say things like this:

Being a jerk is nothing compared to being a complete tool.

When you're a jerk to jerks, the total number of jerks in the world just goes up by one. It doesn't help the situation, nor discourage them. This is why you are punished for the actions you choose to take -- when you have a mute button, are not under any personal threat, and can simply not type? You have to CHOOSE to be a jerk.

But hey, if your whole team feeds, flames you, and reports you at the end, you get punished and not them because they only get one report and you get 4..... See how unfair that really is?

The system doesn't care about the number of reports. All it takes is 1 report to make it review a game -- any additional reports are meaningless. So don't worry about premades stacking things against you -- your reports are just as valuable as theirs.

Plus, the system is also really good at filtering out false reports.

I assure you it is the case. I believe it used to at the onset, but it was quickly removed. Even then it didn't factor in pre-made reports more than once.

And yeah -- I know that it can feel that way, but all the system cares about is the number of valid reports compared to the number of games played within a time frame. Well, that and a few other behavioral things that can spike escalated bans with only one or two instances.

I disagree with this, actually. Trying new stuff is fine. The "meta" isn't that entrenched, and entrenching it to that point isn't a good thing, imho. Plus, your definition of "crazy stupid stuff" may not match someone else's -- which of you is "right" then?

Hell, I often skip Sightstone on supports. It's not ALWAYS necessary, frankly, and trinkets let you work around its loss well as a team. Sometimes you just need that extra damage on Lux or Zyra support, for instance.

If a streamer does it and gets unpunished, Like a WIDE majority of them do after being super toxic and flaming teammates, then it sets the example that it is allowed or not heavily punished.

I can't really speak too much about streamers. But what they say on video isn't something that is taken care of by the instant feedback system. And I don't know how their on screen behavior is regulated, as that would deal more with the streaming service.

If they say it in chat, I would think they'd fall under the same punishment system anyone else would.

I still don't see how one person using toxic speech or chat makes it ok for anyone else to use toxic chat. You can browse the boards and see plenty of examples where this action isn't acceptable.

I agree it isn't acceptable. So why are people allowed to flame someone and report the person getting flamed because they responded in a very poor manor justifiable? No matter what, if someone flames me and gets the other 3 players on our team to report me because I called him trash while he was flaming me prior and all game, they should be punished. That should be checked out by more than an instant feedback system. However, there is no place to go for that and anywhere there is, it doesn't get properly dealt with.

You don't get notified that your report led to a player getting punished unless it was the last report that triggers the punishment. Beyond that, you're only held accountable for your actions and your chat not anyone else's.

Well, I hope you reform. The next punishment after this would be the permaban. You can get your account back into good status, but you have to play nontoxic games to show you've reformed.
