I mean, you're practically TRYING to take away freedom of speech lol.. But that's your view :) you are right on just muting them but as I stated up there, I have an ego problem with letting someone whiny and dumb like that get away with whatever they wanna say when I see it until I've muted. If I talk in /all chat and you don't want to see it or it's tilting to you or don't care, then simply mute me from there on. Some people care about the expense of others gameplay also rather than just their own.
Like for EX: If the same thing happened to someone, I'd try to see how it plays out. If they're both talking in /all chat, see whose more toxic/flaming, then report that person also so they're punished. Not just ignore and let them get away with being a complete dick. There's a difference IMO between a toxic player and someone just TECHNICALLY retaliating. Riot doesn't see that though and that's fine. I think of it as if it happened in reality, if someone punched you, no police or people are there to witness it or say anything against it, are you going to let them get away with it and just walk away? I wouldn't. But that's just me :)
I get what you re trying to say however :
there is a huge difference between "Galio is flaming me and wants to report just because I afked until minions spawned" and "guy so mad and salty cuz I waited blabla.. lmao." In this case you re being just as pretentious and annoying than the guy who started talking shit. I actually believe that riot system is garbage and context does matter as opposed to what they re promoting. i often feel bad for people who post in this forum after they get banned in cases where they got trolled or baited and retaliated, I wouldn't in your case though because you re getting to his level.
Also I'm not trying to take away freedom of speech, there is none in this game to begin with. Both of you are spot on for chat restrictions if reported, thats just how the riot rules are. its a video game and not real life. Here you can literally get permanently banned with a $1000 worth account for using the n word or "kys" even as a joke with no bad intent. Unlike in real life you dont have to deal with shitty people here, you can literally just mute them and forget they ever existed, which is what Riot is trying to enforce, as they have full right to do so, right or wrong.
At the end of the day its a competitive game and behavior like this just makes for a worse experience for everyone invloved. Idk about you but I certainly dont play it to see people throwing shit at eachother. Like I said, in aram it matters less but the same things happen in ranked and when they do it makes the game frustrating and not something you want to go through. Also it's not just about you and the other guy, there are still 3 people left on your team who arent automatically as shitty so why make it worse for them?
The ego part - whatever happened to self control? "I shot the guy cause he made me mad, and I get angry easily, not my fault lol". Not much to say here. If you are aware that you have ego problems then you can improve.
