Riot should implement a Penalty for fake reporting

I've noticed in a lot of games that there are people who just "report" when something bothers them. "OMG THIS PERSON IS 0/3 TOP LANE LET'S ALL REPORT HIM GUYS" (Even though when the person may be having a bad game and apologizing) "WTF WHY IS THIS PERSON GIVING ME BLUE????? REPORTED!!!!" "WHY ISN'T HE/SHE TALKING TO ME?? I'M MUTED????? REPORTED!!!!!"

Sure, I understand that some of you may not witness this. However you cannot deny that there is quite a number of players who just report for even the smallest of things that probably didn't even affect them in the first place. The "Fake reporting" can be quite annoying and it is proven that if deep down inside they know some things are not reportable but they do it anyway there SHOULD be a penalty or restriction. If so then the report system will be more precise and accurate when it comes to players reporting with good reasons.

Thank you for reading.

Calling for others to report is punishable already. Invalid reports are thrown out. There will be no punishments for just reporting someone that turns out to be unwarranted.

This would break how the system works though. See, the system learns behavior from what players report -- if a new slur "Bibblethorp" (to make up a word at random) appears, the system won't recognize it until it's been reported a lot with great frequency, at which point it'll start to learn it. If we punished people for reports that aren't currently learned negative behaviors, it will actively discourage people from reporting things that may not CURRENTLY be problems, but SHOULD be.

As-written, players have the ability to report behaviors they don't want to see, and if enough people do than the system learns that as a behavior the community doesn't want. A few fake reports here and there, however, don't do anything -- the system basically just ignores them, so it won't really raise precision or accuracy to punish people for it. It will, however, cripple the system's ability to learn what the community wants marked as toxic behavior.

there is an option for false reporting if they say report for 03 u report them for harassment since telling and askin for reports is harassment just don't say your reporting them or askin for reports

The bigger picture of that will be Riot gets more accurate data for reports for trolling and inting. That's pretty good, but Riot would have to make the consequences known so broadly to the point that people will stop falsely reporting others.

They can barely get the report system to do it’s job and you want to add another layer of complexity to it! Good luck!
