I seriously don't understand toxic players.

I'm a nice guy, and when I play league I try to stay as positive as possible, even when the game is going horribly. A positive attitude not only makes the game a better experience for your team, but it also helps win games.

I cannot fathom how people don't realize how important morale is to winning a game of league. If you let yourself get tilted or angry, YOU will play worse, and by taking it out on your team or playing the blame game, THEY will play worse as a result.

Its such a simple thing, being nice leads to more wins, and being rude/toxic leads to more losses.

From a ranked standpoint, only playing when your in a good mood and keeping a positive attitude in game helps you win more games, so I don't see any reason why people decide to be toxic.

And for those that will point out I'm unranked when I said that, my brother plays league as well. This season he managed to climb from bronze 3 to gold 5, solo, in both solo Q AND FLEX Q, playing almost exclusively thresh or taric supp and malz mid, and he always stays positive during his games. I watch him play all the time, and not once have I ever seen him say something toxic, or even something even slightly rude. By him being positive, team morale stays high, and it encourages them to do better as well, and win dire situations much more frequently.

From a game perspective, there are no benefits to being toxic, none whatsoever. So why are so many people in league so toxic, when it makes them and their team play worse? I mean, its kinda obvious, for one.

I seriously dunno why people act toxic in game, there is zero point. You can get angry, but just get angry irl and don't type anything in chat, and then your not hurting anybody else, and more importantly, not lowering team morale.

Plus, I somehow find it hard to believe people are ACTUALLY angry when playing league. All in all, league is just a video game people shouldn't get angry over such a thing. When I was a child I cried when I lost whatever game I played, but now that I'm older I know thats kind of insane, and I know now too that its very normal to be frustrated by a game, its not to get angry over it

Yeah, I get it, were human. But if someone got angry over something as minor as their shoelace getting untied, would you think thats normal?

All in all not only are there no gameplay benefits to being toxic, there are also no emotional ones, as all being toxic does is fuel that anger. So why do so many people in league act toxic? It just makes zero sense to me whatsoever, no matter what perspective I look at it from.

And hey, yeah, I've had those games where I'm laning and while I'm backing my jungler comes in and dies. But while that is minorly frustrating (I say minorly, because it is just a game after all) I don't type anything in chat about that, because I know that not only will that reduce my team's chances of winning, but its just not a nice thing to do, its just dickish, and not being a dick, especially in a video game like league, is pretty damn easy actually. Hell, most of the time when I see a teammate sucking I enforce positivity, telling them its alright and what matters is that they try their best, and guess what, not only do they usually play better after that, but after all its just a game, getting angry over it is beyond pointless

And lemme tell ya, I've been GLUED to this game since 2013, no game has ever made me put it down for more than a week at most since mid 2013, so while this game is VERY special to me, it is just that, a game.

This is what i don't get and it seems to happen allllllll the time.for example, I am bot as jhin with a naut support. He is pressuring them like no other, this would be fine if they didn't have veigar support and he gets trapped every time and almost dies or just flat out dies.I say to him why so aggressive? He says never played naut support trying to test out how far I can push.So I leave it at that.Mind you he is taking every bit of farm he can from me while doing this. Then as we actually catch the twitch out he deliberately takes the kill. This is where things go bad.All I said was wow :*( nothing else. Then the top rengar starts ragging at me telling to calm the fuck down.I said i wasn't mad or anything.I left it at that. Then after we did some team fights I was almost dead and I retreated...I mean I had less than 20 hp.They have a ezreal so I didn't want to risk using my ult cause he could just snipe me.I got ping spammed and simply because of that one thing I got flamed the entire game by the rengar and our mid for some reason who I had not even said anything to.They, of course, turn on me and tell the enemy team I am trolling blah blah blah the whole nine yards. So now I have the enemy team and my team talking shit at me.The funny thing is I ignored all of it.I even ended up winning allot of our team fights and came out with a good k/d/a.I killed 4 people with 1 ulti and still the whole game I was bashed.I have been playing this game since it came out and the last year or so the toxic levels have gone sky high.I am not stupid and I realize this game has had a toxic community for a while but it is terrible now.You just roll the dice to see if you are gonna get a group of trolls now.I even stopped playing for over 6 months because it was just too much to deal with.I came back and it's worse than it has ever been.It is just soul crushing sometimes.I love playing this game and the sad thing is half the time I have to end up ignoring half the team or more. That is no fun at all to have to do that.I like to communicate with my team and when the toxic levels are critical all the time what is the point.

I've been playing for a few years (I joined around the time Lucian was released), started playing Ranked this year and climbed into Gold V from Silver III by playing exclusively Leona Support.

I can heartily advocate that staying positive (being in a good mood and saying nice things in chat) can help increase your winrate, as well as trying to dissolve bad situations peaceably. I cannot stress that word enough.

Teammate AFK'ing in fountain but sticking around in chat? Ask them politely to return to the game, or rally your teammates to redouble their efforts. Teammates infighting? Try to break it up, but don't lash out. Teammate doing poorly, is in low spirits? Give them reassurance.

Being kind to your teammates and being positive = higher morale = more wins. And, like OP said; flaming = lower morale = less wins. You don't get anywhere by being toxic, and I can personally attest to it.

If you don't get us how can you effectively punish us?

wow... 'i dont understand toxic players' that is one of the most ignorant comments on this board. I believe you don't have a lot of life experience in terms of dealing with people in general. not everybody is nice and understanding. people have emotional tolerances that are all over on a wide scale. there will be people with short fuses and people with long fuses (i guess your included). just because you can control your emotions to the point that you dont rage/troll doesnt mean that everybody can do it too. you should have compassion for those with less. please get off your high horse.

As someone who has had multiple chat restrictions and actually just got put back on 1 after coming off of 1 I can tell you this.

I'm competitive. I don't mind losing if it's a good game. In fact, I don't care if you lose lane. Sometimes you have off games, or counters in game. I will watch your mechanics and see if it's that though, if you know what you're doing but it's just a tough game. Got it. But if you obviously don't know what you're doing, you're feeding, horrible cs, your mechanics are trash I will probably call you out on it.

Why do you ask? I don't know. It helps me relieve some stress. I've played this game long enough that it annoys the fuk out of me. It's frustrating and a waste of my time that your incompetence will cause this game to lose.

It is what it is. Sometimes I feel bad if the person says sorry or something but generally they just flame back, then they report me, which is a joke. Either flame back and don't report or take it like a man and report me. Don't be a b**ch, try to talk back, then cry to Riot.

If I ultimately get my account banned I won't be coming back. Which I guess is better for the community? Doesn't matter to me.

i know i'm late and yatta yatta but, hear me out,i have at least 5 permabanned accounts, with two 14 day suspensions in the progress.I get it,i'm a prig, but, let me explain my mindset. so,let's start with an anology, for example, let's say you're in a school project.Your team consists of 5 people.you, and 2 other people do very well, are competitive, communicate a lot, have great ideeas, whatever. The 2 other ppl in your team, are very good friends, and instead of helping you out, they chat to each other, make fun of you,and are actievely pushing you down.At the end of the timespan, they get an A and so do u,doesen't that anger you?wouldn't you wanna kys?after u stood there and worked sleepless for 2 weeks while these bastards jerked off and got the same grade as you? another anology, let's say you are in the same scenario, but on the enemy team, except you get decent teammates, the enemies have 4 gods and one retard. u are in lane vs that individual. You destroy him,get better ideeas and bla bla but.4 gods can't compare to 5 decent ppl and the bastard gets carried and gets a good grade, then says ez ez noob ez im a pro(yasuo)yasgiuo and he gets an a.doesen't that make u wanna bash his brains in? that's my mindset and the 2 scenarion that trigger me the most.

LMFAO. If you can't handle someone's toxicity then just mute them. they put that feature in the game for a reason. people who actually let others affect their gameplay are the real losers

JackSparrow949/2/2017, 5:11:07 AM1 votes

Most people start off very nice in a game. Feeding isnt even an issue, I can get myself fed more than others in my elo. It gets toxic when people absolutely refuse to listen to your advice and start to do dumb things. Like if youre playing Kat and Bard ults you, or your tahm kench sup swallows you as MF adc.

i dont understand soft weak minded cry babies. who seem to be offended EVERY SINGLE things people say . u have a mute button use it u little girl :D

First off, that actually hurt to read. Stop trying to sound intelligent / older, it makes your sentence fluency garbage -- and you repeated yourself like four times over to boot.

And I don't understand people who try to pretend that what someone says in chat can, in any way, affect your game / gameplay. If you are so fragile, then you really shouldn't be playing an online competitive game anyway.

Thing about getting upset, that's just how people work. People watch sports and get happy, mad, sad, etc. People watch movies and get scared, mad, happy, etc. That's just how we work.

Whenever I lose to a toxic player I become more toxic. It's shitty that Riot lets people like that win and I wanna win so
