I seriously don't understand toxic players.
I'm a nice guy, and when I play league I try to stay as positive as possible, even when the game is going horribly. A positive attitude not only makes the game a better experience for your team, but it also helps win games.
I cannot fathom how people don't realize how important morale is to winning a game of league. If you let yourself get tilted or angry, YOU will play worse, and by taking it out on your team or playing the blame game, THEY will play worse as a result.
Its such a simple thing, being nice leads to more wins, and being rude/toxic leads to more losses.
From a ranked standpoint, only playing when your in a good mood and keeping a positive attitude in game helps you win more games, so I don't see any reason why people decide to be toxic.
And for those that will point out I'm unranked when I said that, my brother plays league as well. This season he managed to climb from bronze 3 to gold 5, solo, in both solo Q AND FLEX Q, playing almost exclusively thresh or taric supp and malz mid, and he always stays positive during his games. I watch him play all the time, and not once have I ever seen him say something toxic, or even something even slightly rude. By him being positive, team morale stays high, and it encourages them to do better as well, and win dire situations much more frequently.
From a game perspective, there are no benefits to being toxic, none whatsoever. So why are so many people in league so toxic, when it makes them and their team play worse? I mean, its kinda obvious, for one.
I seriously dunno why people act toxic in game, there is zero point. You can get angry, but just get angry irl and don't type anything in chat, and then your not hurting anybody else, and more importantly, not lowering team morale.
Plus, I somehow find it hard to believe people are ACTUALLY angry when playing league. All in all, league is just a video game people shouldn't get angry over such a thing. When I was a child I cried when I lost whatever game I played, but now that I'm older I know thats kind of insane, and I know now too that its very normal to be frustrated by a game, its not to get angry over it
Yeah, I get it, were human. But if someone got angry over something as minor as their shoelace getting untied, would you think thats normal?
All in all not only are there no gameplay benefits to being toxic, there are also no emotional ones, as all being toxic does is fuel that anger. So why do so many people in league act toxic? It just makes zero sense to me whatsoever, no matter what perspective I look at it from.
And hey, yeah, I've had those games where I'm laning and while I'm backing my jungler comes in and dies. But while that is minorly frustrating (I say minorly, because it is just a game after all) I don't type anything in chat about that, because I know that not only will that reduce my team's chances of winning, but its just not a nice thing to do, its just dickish, and not being a dick, especially in a video game like league, is pretty damn easy actually. Hell, most of the time when I see a teammate sucking I enforce positivity, telling them its alright and what matters is that they try their best, and guess what, not only do they usually play better after that, but after all its just a game, getting angry over it is beyond pointless
And lemme tell ya, I've been GLUED to this game since 2013, no game has ever made me put it down for more than a week at most since mid 2013, so while this game is VERY special to me, it is just that, a game.
