Riot Ruined League for Me.

Well I've played league since about 2010 and I've had quite a few permabanned accounts since then. I am at the point of just giving up on the game completely it is such a flawed system. I have lost so much hard earned cash and time spent over the past few years simply due to Riot's flawed system that is used by immature people in dynamic que's together that target report you after each game. Now everyone will say "don't be toxic", Sorry for being competitive and occasionally getting angry at another summoner for intentionally ruining your game or taking something from you in game and they don't receive any type of punishment because they didn't type anything. I was Gold 2 at my peak after this many years simply due to having to restart OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I literally can't even have fun with this game anymore because I have to sit back and think "wow I don't have anything anymore, none of my skins, my rank, and my time spent". You need to learn to give people second chances Riot, especially players that have always been loyal to the game and have even promoted YOUR GAME to their friends. Which I have done plenty, you sit back and don't care because the company is loaded you don't even think about how the individual player feels this company is all about mass market. I love league but Riot has taken everything from me and I can't even have fun with the game anymore, and their supports you can send emails to are like robots they don't care about what happened or how it happened they will do nothing to help you. Everyone has bad days and Riot needs to learn to give more leniency on these matters. I know I'm not the only person this has happened too, None of my money was ever refunded either, Riot ruined League for me.

Wasn't Riot that ruined LOL to you. It was you who got it to yourself. If anyone here ruined LOL to anyone, it was to to many other ppl. How do you think many other players felt after playing with you?

Riot is very lenient... and if you have a bad day once in a while, it is fine. This is what happens to me. Now, when your 'bad days' are every day, and you're always taking your bad days out on everyone else around you... That's when it's no longer 'bad days' and you're a toxic person. Riot ruined league for you? I bet you ruined league for at least a handful of people with your toxicity.

Riot is INCREDIBLY draconian.... which is fine, as long as you play their game, you play by their rules, I have no issue with that and will always observe the rules and regulations placed by Riot Games.... but don't say they're lenient, that's pure lunacy.

I've played many games where the "toxicity" levels are significantly higher than LoL and no one cares... because the people playing are encouraged to act like adults. Here you shouldn't say naughty words and should always be mindful of people's feelings, as if we were a bunch of kids. I dislike that, but I like the game (for the most part, FU dynamic queue) so I obey the rules.

Exactly, they treat us all like children. Not all of us are 15 year old kids with their mothers over their shoulder. Adults can type whatever they please we have freedom of speech, This is not even a kid's game I don't know why they try to regulate it as such.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. You have a legal right to tell someone to KYS and not get arrested by the government, but Riot doesn't have to put up with it.

Riot is not owned nor operated by the US Government, so no, it's not illegal. Them holding you accountable for what you say, removing your ability to say anything, or kicking you from the game completely is perfectly legal.

They aren't doing anything illegal.

They are under no obligation to let anyone play this game. Riot allows people to play if they agree to and follow the ToS. People who do not follow it are not allowed to play.

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with riot. The first amendment protects you from the government censoring you. The government could not turn riots policies into laws. Riot can restrict pretty much anything they want. The same way you can remove someone from your home for any reason you want, Riot can remove people from the game for any reason they want.

It doesn't matter if they're operating on US soil, they're still not the US Government!

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

That's the first amendment. Note that it refers to what Congress can't do, not to what businesses in the US can't do.

Children say i should be able to act the way i want. Adults to tend realize common curtsy is a must is the world. We may not all like each other but we can be polite for an hour.

Actually, to add to this, the OP has a valid point. Now, I will not go so far as to toss Riot into the EA category, but they are not far behind. A lot of players who receive permabans do come back. Why? With as many games that are out there, why come back to this? Because, at the end of the day, they do truly love the GAME itself. And yet, the cesspool that continues to plague this game is its community -- and the failed, blind, half-hearted attempt to rectify the problem. If you are punished for any reason, you are sure to find a message at the bottom that is nothing more than smoke being blown up your backside. If you have been punished due to retaliation against another player, that player is also punished. And, if you have been punished, you know this is a load of bull. The reality is this game fans the flame that fuels the fire lit by those who seek to troll and draw negative reactions from others, often, from the very people with whom they are to coexist (team mates). So, what are we to do? Well, Riot suggest we simply mute this player and report them. Honestly, I'd like to think this could be handled more efficiently than a steadfast promotion of checks on a chalkboard resembling the tactics implemented by your everyday run of the mill elementary grade school teacher. This is not solving anything, but rather, only serving to cause more frustration and angst within the community. If I wanted the silent side of gaming, absent any social involvement or interaction, I would stick to offline gaming. But at last, part of this game is the interaction among players. And yet, everything that floats and circles around this game, its community, its management, plays to the hand of Murphy's law. The reality is that this game community management could be handled more efficiently. And yet, that is not the goal. Riot stands only to benefit from a community hell bent on pulling the plug on its final hours. Why? Money. To reiterate, many permabans only lead to a newly created account and the same player returning to the game. And, as previously stated, the main reason for this is because these players do still love the GAME itself. Sure, many will adamantly state their stances as to why they are done spending money on this game. But, many will pivot back to their original point of origin and start spending money once again. Riot knows this. They are not going to kill the goose that continues to drop golden dumplings. If anything, they will continue to feed it until it grows to monstrous size and consumes everything in its path, leaving behind little hints of what could have been, what never was, and, what never will be. But, that is no different than game of life played outside the game of league. The buttkissing, brown nosing, manipulative people pull ahead while the honest and hardworking people are left behind with their morals and principles.

Thank you for adding this, you understand how it works completely as well. I wrote this post just to get my thoughts out there because I know no matter what I say or do Riot will never give me another chance because I'm just another player too them nothing more and nothing less. All I'm left with after years of playing the game is a depressed feeling knowing I'll never have my stuff back that I worked hard for and payed with my own hard earned money. It's especially hard when things aren't going well for you in general and league is the only thing that gives you a bit of happiness and then that is taken from you as well. My accounts were more than just accounts to me I devoted real time to get better and learn this game just to get banned for having a bad couple of games. And for those saying how do other players feel? I'm sure they are fine because there are plenty of jerks out there who love getting people banned and will troll you intentionally to make that happen. I love League of Legends I really do, But I can't find the motivation to even play anymore after all that has happened.

Correct but irrelevant. "Freedom of speech" has nothing to do with this.

As I said before; As long as we play Riot's game, we play by Riot's rules. Personally I do my utmost to never violate Riot's restrictions because I know I may be punished if I do. That being said; It is not wrong to state that the rules are INCREDIBLY draconian and that calling them "Lenient" is pure unadulterated lunacy.

This is probably a breakdown in communication between people that natively speak english and those that don't, we call it something similar to what you'd say "Liberty of expression" (Both a right and an idea) which basically means, and is treated like; "Let people say what they want, if it's stupid then just ignore them (Unless it's a threat in which case kick their ass)".

Liberty of expression is a sacred right in my country and only "Americanized" places have restrictions. You can literally say anything, everywhere else.... you carry the risk of getting your ass kicked if it's a threat or , getting made fun of if it's stupid. That's the way it should be.

Eh, you missed the most popular option if someone says something you don't like/agree with: ostrication. If I'm the head of a group or a company and someone is generally toxic or racist I'm not going to kick their ass or make fun of them, I'm going to kick them out of the group or fire them. Bans are league's way of ostricizing people we don't want to be part of our group anymore.

Yes you have the right to "express" yourself but if I don't like how you express yourself I also have the right to deny you access to a group or even services I provide. Businesses can refuse to serve you if you act like an ass and you can even get kicked out of public places if you don't conform to norms that the COMMUNITY has decided on.

This is not to say these norms are 100% right though. I think the most obvious examples of this is how interracial or gay couples are ostracized in some parts of the US. However, if you're implying that toxicity or retaliation should be allowed then that is a completely different debate and people are going to have to give better arguments than "other games allow it" or "its my right to be an ass if I want to."

That's why I have a problem with leftists and feminists attacking places like chick-fil-a a couple of years back or those cake making places. I am 100% on the side of the rights of the individual. Which means every business must have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason, that's how we do it in my country and how its done in Japan/Hungary/Russia/etc.

This is a major reason why I always defend Riot's rules even when they are incredibly draconian. Riot makes the rules. However in the United States , unfortunately people like you are vying to erode those rights but that's an entirely different discussion.

Riot is in no way shape or form lenient, I have played this game for six years and have not seen one bit of it. And the majority of games I was ever toxic in, people were also being toxic too me. I don't have bad days every day either, all it takes is 1 bad day and a game or two that's all it took for the majority of my accounts to get banned they never gave me chat restrictions or anything. I have a friend who's been toxic since season 2 and has never been banned. It's really a flawed system and everyone knows that, They ban players who don't deserve it and leave the real toxic players with their accounts. It's sad really.

Cause we're smart enough not to take it too far. I never say anything that is not factual when I am "toxic."

Example; Top lane feeds hard. The worst I will say is "You need to work on CSing under tower" or "Welp we lost."

I never attack a persons integrity or mothers or anything that isn't based on the game. I still have had like 1 game chat restrictions but I don't care. I can get banned and it will be fine as I never payed for the game so I have nothing to lose really.

I had my fun playing and all my friends have moved on so whatever happens, happens.

Have u ever wonder why people are raging? He point is players arent even match with their ranked tiers; i played all S/ S- games and still lost; i had highest damage output and wards placed in the game and yet no matter how much i tried, i just lost the game

I feel u bro, i had so many bad games with my team not to mention those who clearly have no clue in the whole game and just getting killed and died for so many times; or those teemo support wannabe who doesnt work on simple kiting mechanics on teemo; and i just realised that even u played so hard to climb ranks and end up another season u get to start from bronze (due to low ranked games played in pre season) and like placement isnt telling where u belong anymore; people dont even give a shit of either they win or not; having a bad game? Meh, imma troll; having an afk? Meh, lets mid open and wait the game to end

Okay, a couple of things here.

  1. Riot does give people second chances. In fact, they give people at least 3 chances before permabanning them for toxic behavior. Punishments are on a 4-strike system of sorts (1st strike=10-game chat restriction, 2nd strike=25-game chat restriction, 3rd strike=2-week ban, 4th strike=Permanent ban) and players can actually skip chat restrictions altogether if the behavior shown is extremely bad (i.e. death threats, racist comments, intentionally leaving/afking in games, etc.).
  2. If people show and put forth the actual effort to change their behavior for the better then they are given more chances to play the game without fear of being permabanned right away if they slip up once or twice every now and then.
  3. You say that you've had multiple accounts permabanned. This means that you knew that the behavior you were consistently exhibiting wasn't okay and yet you continued on with it anyways. Riot gave you plenty of chances and you blew them, so if anyone is to blame here it's you for refusing to change your behavior for the better while you still had the chances to do so there.
  4. Riot has ways of tracking peoples smurf accounts, so if they see that someone is trying to evade their punishments by playing on their smurf accounts then they'll just ban all of their accounts on the spot. Lower leveled accounts are also judged more harshly than higher leveled accounts are for this reason as well.
  5. If someone else behaved poorly and you reported them for it then eventually they will be punished in due time if they keep it up. However, someone else behaving poorly does not mean that you can behave poorly yourself and get away with it as well as you can't. If someone refuses to stop behaving poorly then just mute them, report them and move on. If you retaliate then both of you will be punished, it's really just that simple.
  6. If you wish to discuss your most recent ban then please post your entire unedited Reform Card either here in this thread or in a separate thread entirely. This forum is not a place for Yesman answers, but for people seeking actual help on their punishments and/or things related to the behavioral systems that are in place as well also.
  7. Please use paragraphs when making long posts, as not very many people are gonna want to sit through and read just one big block of text.

The one thing you learn in Leagues is shit talking etiquette. You have to do it properly, and with finesse. You can't be child like, and you have to be the adult of the situation. I have been playing leagues since 2010 and I have never been ban. But I have talked alot of shit. Never feed, never go afk, and always play your best. Sometimes it is good to ignore other toxic people. Sometimes it's good to make them look foolish and get them ban if the whole team is willing to report them. But you gotta be smart about it.

I played a bad matchup mid, had a Diana flaming me and Morgana support. Reported her and while in the next champ select(2 minutes later) I received notification that she got punished. Also I play more normals now as it's the community that goes like "OMG I'M BRONZE I WANT THAT MMR AND SILVER BORDER" or that silver player that "OMG I WANT GOLD BORDER AND FREE SKIN" and flame you. Also playing normals means less pressure on you, as you can try new metas and stuff like that.

You should try heroes of the Storm if you're permanent banned in league. Some may even consider it the better moba. Cheers and sure just play in premades. Randoms will report you but your premade won't.

What? They've shown ample leniency. You received warnings, temporary chat bans, prolonged chat bans, temporary bans, and THEN a permanent ban. All this on MULTIPLE accounts? You deserve to be permanently banned. I hope you never come back. The community will be a much better place without you.
