Being annoying isn't a "legitimate strategy", you're just being annoying

Every time one of the two annoying player habits is brought up ("gg ez" or taunt spam) there's always going to be that one person who says something along the lines of "It tilts the enemy, why shouldn't I do it?"

This would be actually be a legitimate counterpoint (a low blow but legitimate) if you couldn't mute both all-chat and champion voices by default. Well, with a few rare exceptions (Blitzcrank's laugh makes some robot noises even when his voice is muted e.g.).

All you're doing by saying stupid things in chat or spamming ctrl+4 is encouraging people to mute both permanently. Denying people the possibility of encountering a friendly enemy player or enjoying the champions' voice lines. The only reason you'd do either of those things is if your goal is to deny people those possibilities. So. Thanks.

Edit: Anyway, thanks to all the people who stood up and called it legitimate. It proved my point perfectly and please read what I say next time.

I mean, to be fair... what else would Riot create a voice line specifically called "taunt" for?

I mean, not at all.

If I'm jungling and I see the enemy top laner say "lucky." in all chat after they got solo killed, I know where I'm camping cuz they are tilted.

If someone messes up a combo that gets them killed, and they're obviously tilted by it, I'll say something like "?" in all chat.

Does it always work? No. But when it does, holy shit is it effective.

And that's part of the game. It's not "denying someone the chance to make friends over all chat". Cmon, let's be honest. No one has made a true, good friend over all chat.

It is a legitimate strategy. Does it work every game? Nah. But it works, and when it works, it works wonders. Tilting people in this game is easy if they're the type that's easily agitated. Muting is effective to be tilt proof, but come on, we all know it's not that easy for everyone.

Had this Teemo in my game the other day who was constantly spamming his mastery emote in lane. Like he wasn't even do anything aside from farming and he was still spamming it.

Please don't play this game if you can't even deal with being taunted in lane. Your personal problem with being upset about a legitimate feature is your problem. Grow up.

I agree with both sides on this really. I don't get tilted for this taunting "strategy". Honestly I don't believe most people do it deliberately as a "strategy". I suspect most people do it because it gives them a sense of superiority over their opponents. And sometimes it happens to tilt the enemy laner and it works to your benefit, which is an added bonus to winning the game, on top of the ego boost. Unnecessary, but all the power to you.

On the other hand, regardless of how tilt proof you are, it does get annoying to see your opponent bm, especially if they do it every time they get a kill. But then again, no one can fix human behavior, so there's always the mute function as a last resort to shield from enemy comments.
