Griefing through the act of not trying

I recently had a game where even though both mid and top were doing fine the bottom lane flat out never even tried to lift a finger when it came to helping in the mid/late game team fights even though they both had ultimates that were very big in said team fights. It took the match over 30 minutes before the Miss fortune used her ultimate to clear a wave in the middle of top lane and the literal last 5 seconds before rakaan attempted to use his ultimate to drag the enemy hecarim into our fountain. Other than that they used their ultimates no other time and admitted they would never help in a fight. please tell me I was in the right to report them in that case as it should be wrong to refuse in a team game to team fight.

You were right to report them for griefing, because you thought they were griefing.

Since they also admitted in chat that they would not help, you could have also reported them for negativity or whatever the category is.

Nothing will happen, and you can't do anything.

Only the players who might have flamed them would be banned.

It's reportable but I wouldn't expect anything to happen, at least not right away. Riot doesn't have a detection system in place that can tell the difference between griefing and bad play. Generally it's going to take several games of them being reported before their account gets manually reviewed. I have had success sending in support tickets before in extreme cases where someone was inting the entire game and had a long history of doing so but it's extremely unlikely they will get any kind of punishment if it's just a single game.
