Suffering from toxic player verbal abuse?

Utilize the mute button :)

So many people complain about how they're getting verbally abused by toxic players, which then leads to them being toxic back, which ultimately leads to them getting banned. Then, they complain about how they were the victim and shouldn't have been banned. If you just mute the offender(s), then this wouldn't happen so much.

P.S. Two wrongs don't make a right. So, even if you weren't the one who was initially toxic, you're still responsible for your actions. Just remember that.

The problem I've had is I don't want to mute them so I can have a better explanation in my Report, if they keep up their behavior. However I suppose I don't need to do that. I can just mute at the first instance and then report.

Also I'm worried about missing important game-winning information if I mute them. And maybe I want to believe they can reform themselves during the game, so I don't mute them and give them chance after chance.....

Sometimes it really wears me down and I stop wanting to play..... I know my reports work, though. I've received confirmation. :D

Yeah I know what you mean. I want to know what they're saying so I can have more details when I report, but I figure, they've already started being toxic so no matter what, I already have something to report for. As far as not wanting to miss out on game winning information, I was afraid I would do worse in case they did actually say something helpful but I have yet to run into that problem. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

You don't need to know how far they're willing to go with toxicity in order to have a valid report. If you feel they have wronged you, then you report them regardless. If the report is not sufficient, no harm done and if it is, your gain.

If they've decided to be toxic, there's no team communication to be had with that person. Rely on the information from 3 other people in your team, they in particular don't hold the secrets to Challenger ELO in 3 weeks.

#In short, you're not missing anything by muting a toxic person, don't rely on the information they may or may not give you.

You aren't alone! This is exactly how I feel when I play a game, and every once in awhile it pays off, when you save the guy and hes like wow... thanks.... sorry I was such a dick... Now ive only seen that happen about Twice but I feel those moments were worth it.

this video explain it all, even the word toxic had became toxic, i mean peoples who act like this teemo in the video are just peoples who were actting normaly before, they probaly encounter some peoples who were defending this kind of behaviours and than they turned in this teemo because how the ban system work in league, its so awful chat ban or 14 suspension or perma ban because of bad words i mean its totaly irrationnal so people now play the victim cards whenever they can just to make people who play the victim card for real super mad.

Sure no problem. Any advice on this forum is generally trash because it has to fit the moderator approved care-bare bulshit. Apart from the occasional truthiness that a banned player can give some insights into how they were actually toxic.

As far as muting players, most people do that already, but they are still getting trolled regardless. So its not really advice at all. The only GOOD advice, is do not type anything at all in game. nearly everything is ban worthy behavior.

This is difficult for me. Acting by the rules of the forum is what we agreed to. If someone is having difficulty then advice from people who have been successful (never banned) may not be trash... The moderators are moderators because they've proven that they understand the rules, I assume.

I think it's exaggerating to say nearly everything is ban worthy behavior. I haven't been banned and I've got over 3000 games which I have communicated in. I basically read the rules to use the service and I've basically followed them. No problems yet.

I mean the message of this topic is don't fight fire with fire, or something? Mute them, report them, move on. I don't know. Oh right, OP said: "P.S. Two wrongs don't make a right. I'm completely aware that trolling can and will still continue to happen, hence why I specifically stated verbal abuse. Nobody can stop a person from physically trolling in a game. That's up to Riot to ban them to prevent future trolling from that person.

Yes thank you. Honestly if you're the one letting the negative person get to you, you are tilting your team more than the troll. You aren't going to change an asshole's personality by texting a few sentences in LoL game chat, and every moment you spend trying to deny that fact is time spent not playing the actual game.

Riot shouldn't make retaliation bannable unless it's in the extreme. Basically, bring back the tribunal. You shouldn't deal with something like that by just plugging in your ears and pretending they don't exist. Muting just puts people into denial and makes them weaker and more emotionally vulnerable.

There's no need to be a vigilante when we have a report feature and mute.
