Why i don't play support much anymore

I used to be a support main, playing people like Leona, Shen, Tahm Kench, mostly tanks. But lately ive been trying out a few healers/squishier suports, like sona. Im not very good at them yet so ive been playing in blind/draft, yet almost every time i get a super toxic adc. I just played a game with sona, and there was a Jinx adc w/ a yasuo support on the other team, i had a caitlyn adc. We were doing pretty good, cait got 2 kills just under 5 minute mark. Then, once we we had ults, we went in again, but right as i ulted, yas threw up his windwall. So mine missed but cait still got a double kill. from then on i was... and quote "Retarded.... Must be playing with elbows, useless" etc. So, i decided to leave cait just because i wanted to help someone who actually had some respect. So i just roamed around. Cait could easily 2v1 and every time she did she would throw it in my face. I have a short video but idk how to add it onto here. Its just people like this who make playing support, miserable, and i like playing support because i like being helpful.

I'm not trying depreciate your experience, but I do feel the need to tell you that is more of a "people" thing.

As someone who willingly queues as support, I will tell you that there is not a shortage of supports who sit in the bush far behind their lane partner, maybe pressing E, but really just making the ADC 1v2 the entire lane and instead use their keyboard and ample free time for the better purpose of looking around the map to flame everyone else on the team.

I had an ADC soft-int yesterday because "Bard is a trash support, we lost this match in champ select". Bard has a 51% win rate, and I'm a Bard main. Weird.

There will always be those toxic, irritating adcs that think the support is basically a walking potion that shits out wards every few seconds. Try to not let them get you down. Like the others have said, mute them. There's absolutely nothing wrong with muting your adc and staying in lane with them, or, if they are able to stay by themselves, roaming. Just do what you have to do to give yourself the best chance of winning the match.

And don't feel bad about getting windwalled. It happens to everyone sometimes. As a support, we don't get the same amount of practice that mid/top laners have in baiting out his windwall during laning phase, and it can take us a bit to get used to that. Just for me personally, the particles on Blood Moon Yasuo's windwall are actually extremely hard to see when he's casting it, and I have thrown more things into it simply because I couldn't see the damn thing! Nami ults, Sona ults, you name it, I've thrown it into that wall. I usually just make a comment to my team before they get a chance to say anything. Like "Nobody saw that ult, it never happened. <.<" Usually they just laugh at me a bit and move on. I've yet to have someone flame at me or get pissy after I've made my "I derped" proclamation.

Yeah just don't pay attention to what they say, i play support quite often and when my adc do stupid things and die a lot while blaming me for it, i usually wait till the laning phase is over and go support the most fed/better player on my team. But i'd still stay near my adc or roam a bit but come back until the laning phase is over, mainly to not suck up minion xp from other players.

just mute them...i get those types of adcs maybe once a day (sometimes twice)... i just triple mute and play like normal...unless they are really bad, then i try to see who else i can help

Man, I just played Sona myself and first my adc was afk for first 5 min, then he showed up and of course got one shotted by Zoe, then he decided to roam a bit, idk why, so since I had nobody to support, I built AP Sona. By then everybody else somehow started dying so I left bot because well, I had nobody to support, and just went on to kill people while half of my team started crying about ks. Like seriously, if Sona is stealing your kills, you're doing something wrong... So, I totally get you, playing support can be extremely unrewarding and Sona is unbelievably squishy, but still quite viable if you keep your distance. Try playing Nami, she has better heals and she can be fun, especially vs Jhin ;)

I love playing tank supports myself, and I can see what you mean. Sometimes ADCs have little to no appreciation for what we do for them. A friend of mine who mains Tahm Kench she usually takes him top because she's really fuckin good with him. But when it comes to playing support, the ADC always runs AWAY from her W to save them and they end up dying, and who gets the blame? Why her of course for not wasting flash to save someone's bitch ass.

Sona's have their place in ranked still. Could be a lower ranked type of experience, but I just got completely outlaned by a Cait and a Sona as Trist since both had such heavy harass. I'd say she has her uses as a hard counter, since Trist has bad poke imo.

But anyway, on a related topic, do people not have enough brain cells to realize hard countering is a thing and sucks to play against? I hold my tongue the entire game even though jungle and top lane make bad misplays, and then they take a dump on me. Not fun.

Sorry you had a bad experience. If you enjoy supporting, pls don't let this one guy change your play.

I mean it's like if you're a jungler and get flamed by one laner in a game, would you stop jungling b/c of it?

I'm sry for the bad time you had to suffer. That's one of the Botlane issues, you depend in other random player that can be nice or toxic as hell.

And it goes both directions, as an ADC main I never find flamers adcs because I'm the adc (and I don't flame) but I find toxic supps sometimes.

There are more toxic adcs than toxic supps?

I dont really know, but I enjoy the game more playing duo with my friend rather than with some random.

Lol same

heroikc2/14/2018, 11:45:30 PM1 votes

Yeah, that's why I stopped playing ADC, myself and moved to top and jungle; super ham/toxic supports. In all, I relate to that issue.

Hit mute. And stop playing soloQ as much as you can. Botlane is the party lane anyway <3

Elo's a thing too. Low bronze = toxic af. After that elo they learn to shut up and try to carry if their support is 'bad'.

Also I'm not going to question your Sona play. You've transitioned from Leona to Sona, as I did. You're probably playing her hyper-aggressively in laning phase.

You can quit support if you like, but if you want to play it, you can learn to handle the toxicity once you're more confident with your play.

Cavesloth2/15/2018, 3:13:39 AM1 votes

I've noticed a rise in toxicity myself. Best to mute them and do your best, report them after.
