Keep your non-meta picks out of my ranked games!

We don't care if you went 100-0 in your last 10 games. We don't care if you saw Faker take Soraka jungle and went 12/3. We don't care if you're just a diamond 5 smurfing and know how to play Gangplank adc. We don't care if it's just 'preseason' and all ranks will get reset. We don't care if Gnar is a ranged ad champion don't play him bot or jungle. We don't care if you're a one trick Yasuo who played support a million times before.

People in rank are tryharding myself included and would appreciate it if you played by the meta. Dear one tricks please be considerate of your teams comp for example: You're the last pick and everyone on your team is squishy and we need a solid tank to engage and peel don't instalock Riven please and help your team composition.

Sincerely, A frustrated ranked normie.

Edit 1: I don't have a problem with off meta picks that actually work well and eventually became meta. For example in the past we had mordekaiser adc and even now we have miss fortune support. These off meta picks work and have been proven multiple times over and over. But when someone decides to go something wayyy off the meta then things get a little bit hectic in games.

Playing non meta is how i discovered Support Sion, Support Ashe, Support Annie, and Support Veigar WAY before any pros did. Got to Plat with these picks too. So no, you can't tell me how to play, meta sheep. I climb my way.

Just because it's off-meta doesn't mean it's not being considerate for the team. In fact that's part of how metas get formed, by playing things that counter current meta picks. I understand the need to pick to help the team composition, that I totally get. However, sometimes that means going off meta in order to optimally help out the team. You may not care for off-meta picks and would prefer on-meta picks instead and that's fine, but what's not fine is yelling and raging at those whose best picks are off-meta.

Basically try to be considerate of what other people feel is best for the team as well, even if it's off-meta, as chances are what's best for the team isn't what you think it is and vice-versa. You can respectfully ask them to play an on-meta pick, but if what's best for the team happens to be an off-meta pick then so be it, it's not worth getting all bent out of shape over it.

I mean, some people are just bad at some champions don't force them to play to meet your needs If they can't do Leona support but can do nami be like thanks guy, we'll make it work don't blow your lid over "meta"

You go from complaining about off meta to just complaining about picks in general.

No, people are free to play whatever champion they want where ever they want. Some may make more sense than others but it is still fine. That is how the meta changes.

I would rather have people who play a champ they are comfortable and have decent knowledge with in my ranked games than someone begrudgingly pick something he rarely played and feed his ass off.

And where do you get off telling people who they should play anyway? The ONLY thing you can control is your own pick.

I mean, you're not wrong you ask people to not go off meta. However, there is a better approach in all this. You can voice your concern about having a non-meta pick. If the player agrees, good. If they don't, that's the absolute end of it and you just have to concentrate on your own play.

Just for that, if we ever cross paths, i'mma pick teemo support.

OniZetsu66612/14/2017, 1:57:35 AM2 votes

Why is this such a big deal over what champs people pick? Everyone has preferences maybe the meta champs don't fit well with someones play style but the non meta ones are better for them and they can do much better and they fill for what the team needs in terms of composition?

I'm a little bit torn on this post.

On one hand I actually do sympathize with the OP. There is nothing more annoying that going on a nice win-streak, getting to your promos and someone decides to play Blitzcrank top. Everyone knows how that's going to turn out, but the person does it anyway and, low-and-behond, feeds the ever loving shit out of Olaf. Maybe had they picked something a bit more suited for the role they would have done well, but then again they might have fed just as much. At the risk of talking out of both sides of my mouth though, I had a Zyra jungle carry a ranked game once a long time ago---I'll never forget it... they were a Zyra main and promised it would work so long as we played conservatively at first, which we did. So off-meta is not a guaranteed loss.

On the other hand, it's a game... it's a leisure time activity and people should feel free to play what they want so long as they are making a good-faith effort to win. I've played a few off-meta selections in my day---some worked out (like Cassi top), some didn't (like Lee Sin mid). So long as you're not intentionally feeding or griefing, you just have to let it go.

I got to diamond playing Sona mid only lol I mean I'm better than you by miles and I'm an off meta player, your arguement is really weak I do not need to respect my teams comp if I can just carry them like I did 70% of the time even in plat/diamond (88%) below plat I'm not here to be your friend or to impress you I'm here for MY LP which I will take and move on, players who whine and cry which happened to me a lot ended up eating thee words and singing praises was a great feeling and one of my best seasons so far!!!

Or people could just play what they're good at in ranked.
