PSA: If I'm playing a champion I don't know well in normals...

...it means I'm trying out how I can deal with situations and make mistakes to improve on.

  • Do not be pissed if I die more than I kill, it's part of the learning experience.

  • I'm not stupid, I can read champion abilities and determine how to use them fairly accurately, it only takes time to get used to how they work.

  • Stop treating it like it's ranked when you see me or someone say "first time X pvp" in normals.

  • Bot games are simply boring (for me anyway), and offer only the basics that beginner LoL players need, not people well-versed in pvp who simply want to test their mettle.

On a side note, I have actually been on Coop games before when I needed a little helpful practise room with a specific champion like Darius. Yes, I sucked as Darius before but now he's second on my mastery 5 tier tree. I have also seen people tryharding* on Coop games. Honestly? I don't need to go further on that, it's just sad knowing that exists.

*My definition of tryharding is telling people who to pick, what to build with a rude tone etc. E.G; "OMFG STOP BUILDING TITANIC ON MUNDO! GO FULL TANK!"

I would rather you do it in normals than in ranked.

Learn on!

To an extent i agree, But really you shouldnt go into a normals match blindly when playing a new champion. As in you saw someone playing said champion and want to start using him despite having zero knowledge. With Vs AI you can at least know at the start of the match how much it takes to last hit, How well skills come out. But again thats for people with little to no knowledge of the champion they want to play.

Not too long ago I had to defend this in a thread where everyone was in agreement that you should try as hard in normals as you do in ranked. lol

The problem is not you trying a champ in normal.....that is THE CORRECT PLACE to learn a champ. Bots and a "sandbox" learning area, are not real people. They have predictable and and even on hard modes (that dodge every skill shot) do play the same as a real person. I think learning a new champ in normals is totally correct and commend you on doing the right thing

The overall problem is not with you, it is with a toxic community that can be douches just because there IS NO FEAR OF PUNISHMENT AS EVERYONE KNOWS THAT the tribunal is no longer in effect and people don't believe reporting anyone does anything. Plus with the new automated system it takes many people to report the behavior and many won't (maybe they muted the player, ignored the problem...making it worse) and didn't see it. Since people think that is the answer (Muting) and won't report, the Troll, or Toxic person never changes, and now the community is out of control.

Great job learning a champ in normal, good call. You are not the problem, but we won't actually fix the problem in toxicity it seam, so I wish you luck.

Ignore those guys, Though i am of the opinion that everyone should start learning a champ by playing a game or two against bots, If you go in first time directly in pvp, You and your team are most likely going to have a bad time.

My rule of thumb is: "If bot's don't suffice do it in normals or try for aram. Never do ranked unless you want your hiney spanked" Learn on bro try your best!

From my experience, people tryhard and flame WAY more in normals than in ranked. A theory I have for this is that in Ranked, people feel pressure to do the best they can and most only stop to flame when you affect them negatively. In normals, bunch of power freaks mixed with people letting their true competitiveness shine.
