Can you get banned if you didnt do anything wrong but people still reported you

ShakeDatYasuo·3/10/2017, 9:50:42 PM·17 votes·8,216 views

so i was playing a blind pick after doing some work in my garage. and it was chill i was having fun. and then i get ganked by their whole team and instantly die, so i say "hello can you guys call mia pls" and then this one guy is like "we did, dont try us, we are a group of four and will get you banned" and the rest of the game they proceeded to say stuff in /all chat like "omg no way yasuo just called me a fking nger" and other completely untrue stuff. and telling them to report me. and i know for sure they all reported me for being "toxic" even tho the only thing i might have said is "fuck" when i died and almost killed someone but idk if thats chat restrictionable. and also they spam pinged me the whole game to the point i had to take off my headphones because it was driving me mad. Which brings me to my other point being, Why is it not an option to completely mute pings, like i know some people /mute all in the beginning of games which i might start doing because its cancer, and people would /mute all pings if it was an option and riot might not like to just cut off all communication. but shouldnt it be my choice if i want to cut out communication, at the very least there should be a better system that limits how much pings you can ping, like if you ping 100 times in 10 minutes thats obviously a problem.

But is it possible for me to get something stupid like chat restriction or even a ban because these children wanted to be upset.

UPDATE I didn't get banned or even chat restriction, YET.. Thanks for all the helpful comments :)

From Riot Tantram:

Actually, Erdrik is correct here.

A report flags a game for review. They do not establish guilt. The game is then reviewed for harassment, feeding, etc. This is why 'troll reporting' or 'gang reporting' do not work. False or inaccurate reports are thrown out.

You cannot ever be punished for saying nothing .. unless of course it's for something gameplay related like feeding, afking or cheating. But, you can never be punished for offensive language, hate speech or verbal abuse if you said nothing.

nope. If you didn't do anything wrong, you're fine. All them reporting you would do is make their future reports weighed less. I hope you reported them, though.

Yes. There are no actual rules (the ToS is a joke and can be twisted to apply to anything). If people report you frequently and incorrectly, all that will happen is that those reports with time become "correct" according to the system. If people don't like what you say, it means you have no right to say it according to the system. It doesn't matter if you're right or not. It's about how they feel. It's actually pretty ridiculous but that's how it works at a fundamental level.

The comment by Riot Tantram is not true (even the Nunu support player proved this - as did many others). Report frequency matters A LOT and validity much less so (mostly Riot's fault for not having clear guidelines). Or perhaps it's better to say that validity has no objective basis outside of what people agree with. If they agree that saying "you're a fluffy kitten" is verbal abuse, you'll eventually get banned for it. It is still true that if you say nothing at all you can't get banned for verbal abuse.

Reports flag your games for review.

If you haven't done anything punishable, you won't be punished for it.

Yes and no.

If you're toxic in any sort of borderline way, the system might flag it as toxic. You don't know the exact parameters, but they are pretty broad. Mostly to appease to oversensitive people. Best not to say anything. Don't even bother communicating, if it will have a bit of edge on it.

If you type, and are reported a lot, one of those will likely end up triggering something.

Basically, you can't type a lot or communicate unless you're 100% positive and cheerful like lux.

You could be. Depends on what was said.

Fake reports do work. Say I'm toxic in Games 1-4. If I behave in Game 5 and someone puts in a bogus report anyway, Riot would look through my history and uphold the ban due to being toxic in games 1-4.

Telephone Booth3/11/2017, 3:39:43 AM2 votes

Of course not. Imagine a system where people could report you for no reason and you get banned lol

To be honest, if the computers don't find anything wrong, you wont get anything. Hell, the computers allow intentional feeders to continue to play and people who say N gg F g O (fill in the blanks) to keep playing although the second word is up in the air as it's also the name of a cig over in europe.

hell, you can spam pings all game and wont even get a ding on your account under the new system. I'm only saying this because the system is a joke tbh.

OneTrickZilian3/11/2017, 12:36:18 AM1 votes

Yes. If you was suspended previously then for a simple thing like "sigh" or "fu" can get perma banned.

KVbqbFsC8e3/10/2017, 10:50:51 PM1 votes

Not really, but the problem is Riots rules of what is "wrong" are ridiculously strict, so to a logical person it may seem as though it was for no reason.

deoje2993/11/2017, 5:00:08 AM1 votes

Theoretically no, but it does happen occasionally.

Supreme Senpai693/11/2017, 8:20:07 AM1 votes

Short answer: Yes but it wouldn't happen realistically.

Master Vemira3/11/2017, 2:24:48 AM1 votes

Yes, and eventually you'll get banned for something so non toxic, that it will make you toxic.

TittiesRUs3/10/2017, 10:40:24 PM1 votes

Instant feedback can actually ban you if everyone reports you in one game. It's why you get those messages that they have been banned like the instant you exit the game if you have say an inting teammate

Reminds me of a "lovely" game I had a few days ago. I went jinx adc and our support went twitch and we were up against a cait/morgana.

It didn't end well for any of us.

That said, both the malz and the twitch began fishing for a response out of me. They pretty much blamed me for every fight that went south and with the exception of a "kys" from malz, worded their statements in a very passive aggressive way. Essentially they wanted to make me the scapegoat for the match and most likely report me for toxicity. (probably to cover for the fact that our mid malz went 0/7 and the twitch went 2/8 stole so a lot of cs)

I stayed otherwise silent, and defended myself only when accused of trolling, by explaining my logic. I am almost certain they reported me, but I comfortable knowing that I behaved myself and it didn't pass my attention they they never directly argued against my logic.

Favorite moment:

Malz and twitch start a fight against the whole enemy team but die almost instantly. I didn't join in cause I was 2 levels lower then everyone else.

Malzahar : WTF jinx?

Jinx : What did you think I could have accomplished?

neither of us said anything for 10 mins

later... right before the nexus is destroyed.

Malzahar : What did you think I could have accomplished?

Jinx : I don't know.

a report either True or Fake trigger a review of that game if you said something terribly wrong you WILL get banned if its a fake report NOTHING will happen i think that every player has a "report score" if you report a lot of people and no one gets punished the system will start ignoring your reports if everyone you reported got successfuly punished your reports will be concidered more

best way to not get banned is not speaking it might be hard not to anwser to someone calling you out but its the best thing to do Ping are more than enough to communicate and /mute all is still a good option if you're tilted [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Hyquiem7/4/2018, 8:20:58 AM1 votes

Lol too lazy to click 9 times Xd. IMO I would just play the game normally, and mute all even if they spam ping they will be so frustrated they themselves will trash each other it happens.
