Toxicity ruins games. We've done the worst thing possible, we let toxic people know how much it really bothers us. Why did we ever admit that their ways ruined our game?

Was it our fault all along?

The advice most often given here is: Mute, Report, Move On.

Mute them so that you don't respond to them in a way that encourages them.

Report so that their behavior is examined and potentially punished.

Move on, because they don't really matter.

Of course toxicity ruins games, and no, it's not our fault someone else decides to be a jerk. That's all I can really address on account of your confusing wording otherwise.

Trolls are toxic.

The community overreacts and hates toxicity which is what the trolls want to hear.

Our hate of toxicity fuels trolls causing more toxicity.

Like if you tell a brat not to touch something they will touch it.

Our contempt for toxicity isn't the cause of toxicity. We don't magically enable trolls by being against what they do.

And even if it was the case, what do you expect us to do? Tell them "go ahead, please troll our game, we love it!"? Like the thought of not wanting them to troll is the only thing that makes them want to do it, and that actively seeking for them to troll will suck the wind from their sails and make them stop?

No. They'll just keep trolling. They don't give a damn, they're trolls. They troll for shits and giggles.

And the fault of their misbehavior is their own, not ours.

Not everyone is a troll and the system should be in place to get rid of trolls. The system enables trolls by baiting toxicity. My biggest gripe with the system is the idea that someone can influence you to curb from your normal behavior.

Does Riot pair you in games with other toxic people if you get reported? I've been down some rabbit holes man playing league and if you're in a bad mood but still wanting to play games (lots of people use games to escape) I get enticed by conversation and when I chat on league it is often because someone else is being the aggressor driving the convo so if this person tricks me into seeming toxic then reports me this is a troll. I understand it takes two to tango and multiple offenses but there are a lot of trolls, a lot of dumb people, and a lot of people who make mistakes but are overall good people.

The current system would ban all three types of players as stated trolls, dumb, and mistakes which would mean that 66% of the people getting banned are dumb or simple made mistakes and the other 33% are trolls with probably multiple accounts who will bait and ruin games affecting the behavior of dumb and mistakes. It's the main reason why you have so many people wondering why they got banned, the ban system is 33% accurate when banning people and that isn't good when you factor in money spent, time and loyalty to the game.

If you are talking about chat related toxicity, it is totally your fault. You decided to care about it, while with a single mute you could solve the problem. But everyone has to cry and overreact everything.

If you are talking about gameplay related stuff, then it is Rito's fault since they do almost nothing to stop it...
