Sometimes you need to baby your team
Recently I’ve gone into ranked with a completely different attitude, and so far it’s been working extremely well.
I treated my team’s attitudes towards the match like a baby.
To start off the game, you convince them that this is a win. Mistakes will be made, but this can also be fixed. You say please and thank you when asking for favors, and whenever they survive a gank or get a kill you say great job and compliment them. You baby sit their attitude and everyone stays positive. I am a jungle one trick so this is my job anyways to keep everything under control, but I’ve learned that behavior awareness is almost as important as map awareness. If people argue, you just tell them to calm down. DO NOT SAY ITS JUST A GAME!! This doesn’t help (in my case.)
I’m only a gold player so I can’t speak for others obviously, but I’ve won so much more than before using this. And the best part is everyone keeps a level head and at the end of the match, win or loss, it isn’t anger and frustration but more actual defeat. They feel they tried hard, and this is what helps promote actual improvement and not hatred for others and for the game. You also get bombarded with honors in the post game lobby.
It’s always a win in the end, even after a defeat. It does take some getting used to because you have you have control of yourself, and this helps you keep the game moving forward.
Hope this helps, I just wanted to share and hopefully help spread more positivity. Sometimes staying silent isn’t always the best way to deal with the situation.
