Are punishment tier drops after 3 months confirmed? Does anyone have first hand experience?

My main just received a 2 week ban for negative attitude. Was the punishment too harsh for the behavior? In my opinion, yes, but what's done is done. My issue, however, is that I like to talk to people when I play and probably write a novel each game talking to different people. Usually this is fun discussions and banter but every now and then I get a bit tilted (Ahem Vlad jungle in my Plat promos).

I don't mind removing my enter button and using /mute all for 6 months or so for my punishment tiers to go down but I don't want to be paranoid about talking in chat 2 years in the future. If I don't talk at all for the next 6-9 months can I be sure that the punishment tiers have dropped to a lower level and that I won't be permanently banned?

I'm not promoting toxicity by any means but I don't want to say "Should we open mid guys?" and be hit with a perma, especially with how talkative I like to be. :x

Riot doesn't want you to go back to your previous behavior just because 3 months have passed. You can drop down the tiers if you show reformed behavior long enough, but if you don't go back to your old behavior you won't have to worry about punishment regardless of whether you've dropped back down the tiers or not.

You don't have to not talk at all, you just have to refrain from being a negative influence. If muting everyone is what it takes, then keep doing it even after you're safe again.

Riot has stated that you can de-escalate in terms of punishment tiers already in the past. They consider you "reformed" after 3 months which is why you are eligible to receive rewards if you haven't been banned less than 3 months till end of season. I'm not sure when they actually de-escalate but i'm sure it's not a period of more than 6 months for 1 tier. When riot perma bans, unless it was for something highly toxic (racial slurs, homophobia etc), they often state you received multiple punishments in a short period and thus the perma ban. I got a 2 week ban over a year ago but haven't received any punishment since. I am 100% confident I have dropped back down. No, I don't have any proof because I'm not going to go and get myself punished to test it

Yeah, I'd just stick with not talking to much in games. People may assume you have a condescending attitude if you say things like above after getting some Good advice!
