Love when my room mate unplugs the router, and now I'm in low priority queue for the next 5 games

/remake has basically caused me to be punished, after my room mate unplugged our slow starting router as i entered a game. I was unable to restart it before the game reached 3 minutes, and ended up with low priority queue for the next 5 games. Without /remake i would have rejoined at the 4 minute mark, and played out the game. This seems a bit ridiculous for a first offense, when I did not quit, I was disconnected.

Teather next time?

Riot really has no way to know if it was your roommate restarting your router or you quitting without being way more snoopy than they should be.

blame your roommate not the game, if they didnt punish you for leaving a game they wouldnt be able to punish the people who leave on purpose. It may seem unfair but they have to have a standard set

Just to be clear, LPQ's are not /remake specific punishments, they are Leaverbuster punishments. /Remakes simply cause you to be flagged as a "leaver" by Leaverbuster, contributing to the LPQ punishment. LPQ's are not given out for a single leave/disconnect, they are given out when you show a habit of leaving/disconnecting from multiple games. This means that, while this may be your first time as the "leaver" in a /remake, you have been flagged as a "leaver" in multiple other matches as well, triggering the punishment.

Something to keep in mind is that there are other ways to be flagged as a "leaver" besides just flat out leaving the match. If you disconnect for an extended amount of time, even if you reconnect you still will be flagged by Leaverbuster, and this includes connecting to the match late (as covered by /remake). Also, if you stand idle or just run around in circles doing absolutely nothing, Leaverbuster does pick up on this behavior and flags you as AFK.

Now, if a majority of your leaves/disconnects are due to something on your end, such as your router/internet connection, it's your responsibility to find a solution for the problem so that you don't disconnect from any more matches.

There isnt really a way to balance out those 2 things, I mean if I were a part of Riot I would agree that preventing griefing for 4 players of your game is more important than letting one guy come late and play a game where the team is already at a disadvantage which is rarely even the reason people have to remake
