Supports Not Being a Support, Stop It

Okay 2 games in a row I pick ADC, because I like playing as an ADC, only to have my support pick a toplaner. First game the guy picks Pantheon, okay fine he has a stun and he has defensive capabilities in his passive, maybe it's just him being offmeta, except he buys Corrupting Potion first item. He proceeds to last hit or try to last hit every single minion in my lane, making me lose 80% of the CS. We win game in end but I was forced to take a back seat because some tool decided he wanted to not play his role and we should have lost badly but enemy was just god awful.

Second game, duo in chat asks me if I want to switch roles so they can do some niche double damage lane I tell them no, but the "support" proceeds to play Gangplank anyways, uses his barrels to take farm and I proceed to tell him if he wants to be the carry so damn bad he can have lane to himself (Enemy ADC was d/ced so it didn't matter if I was in lane or not) and proceeded to roam and gank. Enemy team surrenders because ADC never came back and were suppressed by essentially 2 junglers.

Both of these games I sorely wanted to lose just to spite these guys but I would never purposefully throw an entire game just to spite someone. If you get autofilled or if you get support for whatever reason, at least pick someone semi-suited to the role and please don't proceed to spend the whole time trying to take all the CS.

I hate to be that person, but CS doesn't actually belong to anyone. They're fully within their right to take CS or play off-meta / unconventional champions in any role as long as they're actively trying to with the game and not being toxic. Sometimes you just have to play around it.

Queuing as support in a public game, then locking in GP and taking CS that traditionally goes to the ADC without any agreement or planning?

It may not be punishable (except it is, in some notable examples), but it is outright rude and detrimental to the team.

I wouldn't say the act itself is rude. I'd say more that the refusal to communicate is rude. And I fully agree that if he wants to do something off-meta or strange he should be communicating with his team. That being said, I've learned to just shrug and keep playing. The number of times I've won with really weird support strategies is countless.

I have to agree here. While it's true that the CS doesn't "belong" to anyone in the lane, all the support will be doing is leaving a gold-starved adc and a gold-starved "support," neither of which will be able to keep up in items with the single enemy adc who is farming solo. It puts the team at a distinct disadvantage early game, and causes a fair bit of contention and ill-will that ruins the mental game for the adc player.

It's one of those situations where communication is so very important. All the GP had to do was say "I'm going to play a damage support. Can we both targon's and share some of the farm so I hit a power spike?" Or, if the GP didn't say anything, the adc can say "GP, you want to run a kill lane bot? If we both start targon's that will get you a ton of gold early on." If the guy ends up being a jerk, or not wanting to communicate at all... well, you've got the mute/report options as needed. But at least you know that you tried. And that you probably won't have to see the guy again.

Okay so let me understand then, why was that singe support dude with a above average win rate get banned , that like to run smite if its in supports rights to take cs and play off meta its in their rights to pick whatever summoners and champion correct?

oh and he also communicated it to his team every match. [zombie-brand-clap]

I understand how frustrating that must be. I usually love to just disagree with someone who posts with the sole purpose to complain... but yeah, that shit just sucks.

Is screwing over teammates for personal gain an "off-meta strategy" now? Good to know. I'll be doing my new "off-meta strategy" of trying to steal my jungler's first camp, I mean if I succeed I get a gold, exp and a buff that my enemy laner doesn't have so it'd put me personally at an advantage in lane, who cares if I just screwed over a teammate right?

Sure.

That's certainly an off META strategy and It's not a punishable offense.

Just be aware that your win rate probably will plummet, it isn't META afterall.

The "Meta" is the FLAVOR OF THE WEEK which changes with every patch. And you are right that the "meta" has become more than a religion, it has become a fundamentalist cult. Anyone who plays outside the "meta" is deemed a troll or greifer. They Take the "meta" and beat players over the head with it. They will sit there and start talking about "ur reported, enjoy your permaban" if someone doesnt follow the meta, or dares take cs as a support. This is why I dont follow the meta, I never will. I dont care if people want to follow the meta, But Am through with people trying to burn me at the stake because I dont blindly follow what the currrent league meta is. I Have a brain, I prefer to use it and think for myself, to adapt and change based on my opponents.

Being an off meta damage only support player I am biased. I strongly disagree with you. I think off meta picks are fine the lower your elo. The higher the elo the closer to meta you need to be. Now of course don’t play that off meta role if you aren’t good with it or if it won’t work in the match up but besides that...it’s all good for me.

All this being said...I won’t take your cs in lane. Hell I won’t take it out of lane if youre near me...but I will cs if I’m alone. I generally carry and out damage both mid and adc too....so stop your crying.
