I'm still not 100% sure how the season rewards are distributed and who is restricted on the rewards as this is my first season and I am not sure if I am up for earning rewards. But my brother JUST got chat restricted and he is silver. Is he still up for earning the rewards or does this do him in?

Zombiemaster2 votesSince this happened after the season ended, then he should be fine. I'm fairly certain that punishments that happen after the season has ended do not affect your eligibility for ranked rewards.
The exception to this is if you were punished for Elo/MMR boosting, which makes you ineligible no matter when it happened, but that's not the case for your brother.

Seems odd that a ban or restriction for things that obviously OCCURRED in the season aren't affecting rewards but I guess that makes sense...

Competitive play should reward positive sportsmanship just as much as they reward great play, so the most negative players with chat restrictions at the end of the season will be ineligible to earn ranked end of season rewards such as the loading screen borders or the Victorious champion skin.
