Bannable offense or not?

(Keep in mind this is a ranked game, and I am in my promo series 1/1 , so this is important, and I even tell my team that in champ select)

So, this thread isn't about me, but is about another player I recently played a game with. So, to keep things simple, I am amumu, and he is Renekton. So, as the game progresses, I am ganking lanes a lot, right, since thats just Amumu things, and slowly, this Renekton starts snowballing like crazy on Irelia, right. So, things are looking all good, but unfortunately, our mid lane is just getting destroyed, and their Diana ends up crazy fed. However, fortunately, our Corki and Bard bot lane is doing amazing, and they get fed. So, basically, Diana is fed on their team, and Renekton, Corki, and I are fed on my team. So basically, after a while, we are just doing some objectives and stuff, getting towers, and randomly, this Renekton just starts semi trolling. And by that, I mean he is just standing there in lane, just afk farming, and is staying in my jungle taking all my camps. When our team asks "Yo renek group for baron", or "Hey renek lets group and end", he just replies "if you guys try, you can win by yourself", and returns to farming. And this is just the start of it, so later, when 4 of us are there at elder dragon fighting with 5 people on the other team, he is just sitting at the opposite teams inhibitor tower dancing, and doesnt move. In fact, it seems like he doesnt even care. He is just there dancing. Fortunately, Corki and I are fed enough to win the fight, but then, their irelia comes in for cleanup and kills corki. I manage to get away with around 100 health. This entire time, renek is still top dancing. In fact, he doesnt leave until around 50 seconds later, when the enemy team's death timers are up.

Overall, this Renekton probably spent around 20 minutes doing this, just farming my jungle, and not grouping or responding to anything we tell him to do. So, I say in all chat, "Can we please report this renekton for not cooperating with team and possibly intentionally feeding". But then, all of a sudden, this cassiopeia, who is probably queued with this renekton based off how strongly she defends him, is like "STFU Amumu you cant report him for this".

So, At the end of the game, I still report him. But my team also reports me because they think im trying to flame the renekton by saying to report him?

So im wondering, is the thing that the renekton doing reportable? Also, is the thing that Im doing reportable?

Thank you!

Asking for reports isn't the way to do it. It's just always problematic. 1 report flags the game and is enough to trigger any penalty needed.

If he was literally dancing and ignoring your team's wishes to fight as a team then yes, it's bannable. Strategy disagreements are one thing and trolling 4 people working together is another. If he'd have taken the inhib and such fine... that's a valid split push (although not the best since at the expense of an elder dragon). But if he's there just dancing around clearing minions so he can get an S+ that's not cool.

Simply put, if you think it's reportable... report it and provide your reasoning in the feedback box. Explain they didn't follow your team's plan and seemed to have none of their own. You think that it's griefing and harassment. And that your game was very negatively impacted by his decisions. If it's something that needs handling RIOT will do it.

Well, you shouldn't report people for tactical disagreements. If you feel he wasn't just "doing a different tactic" but was refusing to cooperate with the team, go ahead and report it. If they do this kind of thing a lot they may get punished for it if it was really that bad.

Also please keep in mind that lobbying for reports is considered harassment and is itself punishable. Only one report is needed to flag their match for review, so just report and keep it to yourself so you don't stir up trouble.

Both are punishable imo. Renekton is trolling and you're pointlessly calling for reports. I say pointlessly because the difference between 1 report and 4 is nothing... it's literally pointless to call for reports. It's actually considered provoking and look what happened... you started a string of negative chat and got yourself reported. Next time just report without asking others to report as well.

Ok thanks for all the replies!!!

I didn't know that only one report could flag the entire game, I thought you needed at least 5, but yay!

Ok thanks peoples!

Additionally, I want to keep in mind, that I think that I was relatively polite in all of my requests to report Renekton.

Also, I dont have a recent history of toxicity in game, and the last time I got one was when I first started playing the game early Season 4, So I think im reformed now! ! !

well he was literally going out of his way to do nothing for the team and screw u all over so he can be reported for sure. altho as ReadyxPlayerxOne has said u shouldnt really ask for others to report as it would be meaningless. plus i think i remember hearing that u can be reported for it too

Everyone else has covered quite well that this is in fact an appropriate thing to report for but I just wanted to say I wonder what goes through players like this renektons head. Like he has to willingly just stand around and not even chase objectives. When I imagine myself dancing in front of a tower while my team fights as elder I just imagine how boring that is and there is no benefit at all to ren doing it.

While calling for reports is technically wrong, it does seem like an intentional loss / gatekeeping / trolling on renekton's part. Attempting to game the system by going for high cs / score to justify actions is still toxic behavior. I would consider Cass participating in toxic behavior as well.

But don't call for reports, pls.
