Rank shaming

I've been rank shamed multiple times for being a Bronzie. For example, I played an Udyr game recently where I refused to take the cloud drake because we would all get caught out and die if we took it. A Teemo on my team started absolutely flaying me for not taking the dragon, and every time the enemy team got a dragon or tower this Teemo would say "Objectives aren't important." On multiple occasions he called me a "Fucking bronzie noob" for not taking objectives (when it was a bad time to). After that game, I got in a queue where I asked for top lane, and the top laner straight out refused to give me top lane because I was bronze. If you look at my op.gg, you can see that, yes, I have very bad winrates on Poppy and Kennen. I dropped both champs halfway through the season, and started maining Gnar and Kled in ranked. I have very good winrates on them, and they are the only reason I ended up in Bronze 1 this season. Please note that these games were in NORMAL GAMES.

I feel like rank shaming has become a much bigger problem than it was before.

You can ask someone else for the lane that they have, but if they don't give it to you then you shouldn't be mad regardless of the reason. He should have been "nicer" and just said no, but I know that I also will keep my position if someone of a lower rank asks for it. It's nothing personal, just that by our track records show that I am better suited for the role. And knowing myself more than I know you, as I haven't met you, I'd prefer to keep my position. I rarely go " lol piss off bronzie no way" or anything like that, but the reasons for someone to keep their lane are their own and not something to be upset about imo.

Just because people are higher rank than you also doesn't necessarily mean that they are better than you. They could just be luckier in their placements, their teammates in crucial games were better, etc. Personally I think it's something to ignore. Rank means only as much as you lend meaning to it. Just mute anybody who is mean to you for any reason and it'll be alright.

This is definitely bad advice. Rank definitely means something. It takes far too many games to go up in rank to call it random and say its luck based.

Ranked is definitely not "luck" based, It's honestly hard for me to get a smurf in bronze even when I'm TRYING. The simple things like ward spots and map awareness alone can get you to silver in 30 games or less.

And reversely, I know people who have been in the depths of bronze 5 because of terrible placement matches, either made a new account or paid to be boosted into silver, and did fine/could climb normally afterwards as if they'd never been in bronze. I've seen it both ways.

My main is settled in mid gold ( about 65 ranked games on it last season). It took me 85 to get it into gold the previous season. It's completely luck based whether or not your teammates are tilted or not, whether you get a trolls or afks. Some of it is purely up to chance, that's all I'm saying. Since its not the same people every game, it's not the same game every game. If that makes sense. You can't control everything.

If it bothers him, he should just mute those "shaming" him and move on.

Dude, this season even IWILLDOMINATE was placed into silver 5, I got placed into bronze 2, and ended the season at gold 1, you're trying to imply that "elo-Hell" exists but it doesn't atleast not in the way you think it does.

I've also had plenty of afk, trollsbuild, rager in my game, and it was always a lack of skill, patience and muting that costed me those games.

I've seen people who are silver play lucky placements and wind up in plat. And play fine in plat/get up to high plat. I think that certain areas of the game are harder to climb into or out of. Some things just can't be carried due to circumstances beyond your control. If someone wants to run their champion into the fountain 17 times, I can't stop that. Sometimes, it's just unlucky.

My point wasn't that elo hell exists or doesn't, perhaps my wording was poor. My point was that people in all elos know different things because they've all had different experiences? I personally don't put a lot of stock into the ranking system anymore after watching someone I know go from bronze 1 to plat 5 after being boosted there, then brag about being plat and used it to rank shame people below them. ( I even sent in a ticket with screen shots about the boosting wherein they admitted it and nothing happened.) Rank only has as much power as you give it, it's just another part of the mind game that is league.

If someone is bothering you, regardless of the source of their argument, just mute them. That's all.

HAHAHAHA, no just no.

No matter what rank you are, diamond, platinum, gold you will still be judged based on your rank, that's just how ranks are.

Don't want to be called bronze? get silver and than get called silver, don't want to be called silver? get gold and get called gold, don't want to be gold? get platinum, in the end of the day the only people that get offended for being called their rank are those ASHAMED of their rank.

ok? once again i dont see a problem. some call it motivation but if you dont care about rank then get ranked shamed and post on the boards or replied even then you care about ranked? mental fortitude is great in a situation such as that. remember you control what you see

i'd just like op to remember that he got to b1 and the people calling him names are probably silver 3 or lower. hell i was called bronze scrub once by someone that refused to play ranked

OP you don't have to listen to others for not being a super high rank in a game. These people are just there to put you down because you knew better (probably I'd have to be in your games to see what you're like).
