I can imagine that alot of people have been in the following situation while playing LOL: You win in a fight against your enemy with a sliver of health left, when suddenly you are executed by a minion. But the enemy gets the kill. Does anyone else hate this?

No it makes sense, because the minions are part of the enemy team. It is not like the minions did all the damage that enemy champion did most of the work. Also if you put yourself in a situation where you die to minions you deserve to give that kill over.

I also hate that you cant deny yourself to monsters in this game. I DotA if you make it to a camp, you can at least deny your enemy the kill... (doesnt work with lane creeps or towers, just with the neutrals)
This is a mechanic that is implemented so people cant just run away from a fight, and 1 second later they execute themselves to Drag or something so you don't get the kill. When maybe you blew your summoners and ult to kill them, it wouldn't be fair and so they made it if you took damage in the past 13(ish) seconds it will count as a kill for them. You have to take minions into account when fighting.
There's a 12 second window where any damage you took from an enemy counts for your death. The window is this long for chain-kills, like quadra kills so that the same one person can get credit. It used to be 10, if my memory serves me.
Quite frankly, if you die to minions (as little damage as they do if you're not sitting in the middle of a large wave), your opponent did enough damage to where they deserve the kill anyway. A good player will avoid fighting in large minion waves/also leave the range of the minions after a fight asap. Learn this.
